Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (6/8/25)

Cocteau Twins

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  11. Alien Sex Fiend – I Walk The Line

  12. That was indeed a perfectly icy way to start the show with ‘Cold.’ And this teacher loved the 45 Grave cover to kick off hour two. Loved hearing Pavement doing the Bunnymen. Gotta give hour 2 the slight nod for the win but all three hours were finely tuned.

The Colin Newman solo track got me thinking about my fave track off Chairs Missing. Could we hear ‘Mercy’ on a future communion?

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  13. Hey Matt!

    Brigandage // Pretty Funny Thing

  14. Randall Griffith

    Hi Matt:

Loved the show as always. Can you play anything from Talk Talk’s “Laughing Stock” album? It is a great album and unlike most all other music of its time. It seems to fit okay with the usual music on your show. Thanks.

  15. Great show matt, could you play anything by the wedding present, I’ve really been digging you playing them lately. Maybe “Thanks” off bizarro or “Palisades” off el rey, those are just suggestions but I don’t care what song I like pretty much everything they have done. Or maybe you could play their cover of “ Box Elder” since you have been playing a number of covers in the last few shows. Some highlights of last nights show were the cure, rev co, the smiths, pavement and the chameleons to name a few. Thanks for the stellar programming.

  16. Great covers as always! And good deep cuts.

Here are some requests as we get into summer –

    Executive Slacks – Our Lady
    Catherine Wheel – Crank

    Thanks!

  17. Can you play “Young Man’s Stride” by Mercury Rev for my wife Lindsey’s birthday this Sunday. If you could fit it in that would be great. Thank You!!!

  18. Hey Matt!!! Another stellar program!!!! Thank you for playing my Dance With Me request….love that one! I know I’m getting here a bit late this time around….but if possible I’d love to hear:

New Order – Leave Me Alone
    Psychedelic Furs – Dumb Waiters
Echo & The Bunnymen – Stormy Weather

    Thanks again as always! 。◕‿◕。

  19. Can you please play
“Talkin’ ‘Bout The Smiling Deathporn Immortality Blues (Everyone Wants To Live Forever)” By The Flaming Lips , thank you.
    -Bart

  20. Happy Mondays – Tart Tart (1987) Apple Music + Qobuz + Bandcamp
Zounds – War (1980) Apple Music + Qobuz

  21. This high school librarian was thrilled to hear “School’s Out” – perfect kick off to summer break! As always, thanks for serving us the best three hours of dark tunes. Hour two was my fave, and other highlights include New Order, The Smiths, Colin Newman…
A request for an upcoming show:
    Fugazi “Blueprint”
You played them a few weeks ago and it prompted me to revisit their catalog. Those early releases are forever embedded in my memory!
    Thank you!

  22. Kevin Tomasiello

Great show. I’ve got a couple of requests for ya
Kommunity FK – Something inside me has died
    TRAITRS – Thin flesh
    Actors – Face meets glass!!
    Thanks!!!

    • Those are all great requests. I don’t think he’ll play Actors or TRAITRS since they’re more recent, but you have great taste in music.

  23. Really solid show this past Sunday. I have to give it to Hour 1, but really loved the Mo-dettes, MC 900, and Trisomie 21. Good calls all.

On a future show, please play Iggy Pop “Five Foot One”.

Thanks for the great music. Have a good rest of your week.

  24. Thanks for playing Musette And Drums! Great show!

  25. Excellent show this week, Matt, and thank you for playing Pavement’s cover of the Killing Moon!! Some other highlights for me were the Ministry song (that I was criminally unfamiliar with), the Cocteau Twins into Gene Loves Jezebel, the very cool post-punk of the Mo-Dettes and the darkness of that The Naked And The Dead song. Have a great week!

  26. Hi Matt. How about Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) cover by Magazine in honor of Sly Stone.
    Thanks

  27. Another great one. Loved the Revolting Cocks — that was the other encore song at the Ministry show and Chris came out to sing it with them. I did not know that was his voice on that song until his wife posted from backstage on Instagram. But I probably wouldn’t have even been there in first place if it weren’t for my weekly Dark Wave schooling. Meanwhile, my deep dive into Psychic TV has led to Coil. I know you’ve played their Tainted Love cover before, which is amazing. Any other favorites you want to throw out there?

  28. Jaan Naktin

Hey Matt! Happy Father’s Day. Listening to Dark Wave has woken me up to a lot of music I missed in the 1980’s when I was in High School and College in Baltimore.
Could you do Cabaret Voltaire “Nag, Nag, Nag” as a Father’s Day treat? I promise to dance like a fiend in response!
