Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (6/1/25)

All About Eve

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. Hi Matt, good show, the Joy Division content was nice. Thanks!

Here’s one I like from Geography:
    Front 242 – U-Men

    Have a good week everyone!

  2. Thanks for the Burning Image. The Lilys were a great cut too. But I have to go with Hour 3 for the Nitzer Ebb/Naked Raygun/All About Eve selections.

Would like to request “The Highs Are Too Highs” from the Johnette Napalitono/Marc Moreland side project Pretty & Twisted on a future episode please.

Thanks for the great music. Have a good week.

  3. Hey Matt, Thank you so much for playing Joy Division! And I love Villers Terrace from Echo and the Bunnymen.
    Excellent
    See you next week!

  4. “Animal Nitrate” by (the London) Suede for (the next after) next Sunday’s show

I believe they opened up for a show in Tampa at Masquerade back in the day.
Thank you for your diligence !!
Thank you for the DESSAU trax…

  8. Wonderful show Matt! I was in awe of your musical selections! I loved hearing, “Miserable Lie” by The Smiths! Thank you for a wonderful Sunday evening.

  9. Skeletal Family – Promised Land

  10. Hi Matt happy June! Wow what a set list!!!!! So many awesome tracks in there. Thank you so much for playing my Lilys request – such a great cover!!!! As my birthday is coming up on the 14th, I’m hoping to request any of the following favorites of mine:

The Stranglers – Always The Sun
The Cure – A Strange Day
Depeche Mode – But Not Tonight

    Thanks again as always!! 。◕‿◕。

  11. What a great show. That Lilys track was fantastic, I never knew they cover New Order. I would like to suggest anything by the terribly underrated band Rollerskate Skinny. May I suggest
“Speed To My Side”, “Swingboat Yawning”, “Miss Leader” or “Ages” (which is a personal favorite) although everything by them is fantastic.

  12. “Stigmata” by Ministry would be great to hear on a future show. Maybe this one?
Aside from my request, the show last night was fantastic.

  13. Hey Matt, it’s been a while since I made a request, so asking to hear Peter Murphy – Hot Roy, my fav track from his new album. Thanks as always!

Hi Matt! I have to do this here instead of Xitter (closed my account there.) Two ideas for shows:

    1. Dark Wave songs you’ve never played on Dark Wave.
    2. Worst songs by Dark Wave bands.

  16. Thank you for another awesome serving of the dark stuff. Highlights include Echo, Naked Raygun, JAMC, all the cover songs, James Chance and The Contortions…

I’m going punk with my request for an upcoming show. Would love to hear any of these thrown into the mix:
    T.S.O.L. “Wash Away”
    Germs “Lexicon Devil”
Adolescents “Kids of the Black Hole”

Thank you! Have a great week.

  17. Stellar show! I really liked the Manchester block with Chameleons and The Smiths followed by two Joy Division covers I’d never heard before. Keep the covers coming. Thanks for playing my Wedding Present request. Looking forward to seeing them on Friday. And tonight is Ministry, TKK, and Die Krupps, can’t wait.

That killer Pigface cut got me thinking about PTP. Could we hear ‘Rubber Glove Seduction’ on a future show?

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

    • Ministry and tkk and die krupps were all so great! Such a fun show – uncle Al seemed to really be enjoying it.

      • Super fun show indeed, and loud! Uncle Al definitely looked like he was having a blast. The RevCo cover to close the night was so awesome.

  18. Great show, I really do love the cover songs incorporated in the latest shows. One cover song i would request for a future show would be
The Tindersticks cover of Pavement’s “Here”.

  19. Enjoyed the show…as usual! We would love to hear something from B-Movie’s “Hidden Treasures” Album. Maybe “Citizen Kane”? Thanks!

  20. Good show!

  21. Quicksand – Unfulfilled (1990) Apple Music + Bandcamp + Qobuz
John McKay – Zen And The Art Of Nonsense (2025) AppleMusic + Bandcamp + Qobuz
Sixes And Sevens is the debut solo album by English musician John McKay, the first studio guitarist of Siouxsie and the Banshees. The songs were recorded in studio between 1980 and 1989, and then archived in McKay’s vault, before being mastered in 2024.

  22. Hi, Matt! Great show as always!
Please play Metal Machine Music by Die Krupps and Wasted Sky by Numb. Thanks!

  23. Bobby Gutlick

Hey Matt thanx for another great show. I hope this list isn’t too long. Maybe you can spread it out over a few years lol.
Rowland S Howard-the golden age of bloodshed
Foetus- a prayer for my death
    SWANS- Eden Prison
Dave Vanian and the Phantom Chords- the house is haunted
    Crass- what the fuck
    Ministry-brick windows
    Bowie-the motel or i’m deranged
    Daucus Karota- Raw Power
    The Cult-faith healer
    The Damned-roderick
Steroid Maximus-i will love you always
Lydia Lunch & Rowland S Howard-what is memory

    • I second the Daucus Karota cover of that Stooges song.

Going with the same vocalist, Shadow Project did a good cover of Dead Babies (Alice Cooper).

  24. Very cool show this week. Among many great highlights, loved the 1-2 punch of Naked Raygun into James Chance and The Contortionists….that fantastic Lily’s cover of New Order (thanks to Tina for requesting it!)…. and Dessau covering Joy Division (by way of Nashville Tennessee!)

  25. Can you play Kathy’s Song by Apoptygma berzerk, Victoria Mix by Vnv nation

  26. Thank you for always playing Siouxsie and the Banshee’s All Tomorrow’s Parties cover every now and then
