Depeche Mode
“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).
The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.
Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

Hey Matt, great episode as always. I have an upcoming request. My Birthday falls on the Sunday, June 8th episode. I would love it if you could play Joy Division – Eternal, or New Order – Everything’s Gone Green.
See you next week!
Props for the Comsat Angels, bringing back the Real Genius vibes! And thanks for playing Cybotron and Baby Ford during previous shows. In the same vein, how about Final Cut -Burn Baby Burn
Great show, thanks for playing my request!
Great playlist tonight! Perfect way to end the weekend. I haver never heard of Comsat Angels. Love the song! I can’t find it on Spotify though.
Can you play
Modern English – Carry Me Down
Blancmange – Game Above My Head
NEU! – Fur Immer
Shriekback – Malaria
Ministry – Nature Of Love
Charge – King and Queen of Desolation
Was this a shorter show than usual? Ended at 12:48 (I happened to stay up for it last night!)
That confused me too. I often have it paused on the Sirius box and couldn’t reconcile Matt’s sign off and the analog clock on the audio shelf. Usually everyone loves getting out of church early, but I hold to the commitment of the three hour mass, even when 1000 Homo DJs show up to test our resolve.
Great show. Loved hearing the Comsat Angels and enjoyed hearing about your first dark wave show. Thanks Matt
Excellent and balanced darkness on each hour!
And much love for the love of the The Comsat Angels, who made great music and have a great catalog to listen to in full.
Here is a request for May –
Slowdive – Slowdive
Thanks!
Happy May Matt!!!! I know my request was played in hour 1 (thank you so much for that btw – love that tune!), but holy cow hour 2 rocked my polka dot socks off!! So I should be returning from my Italy trip just before the June 8th show and thinking these songs wouid be awesome to shrug off the jet lag:
Skinny Puppy – I’mmortal
PWEI – Everything’s Cool
Moev – Alibis
Thanks again as always!!!! 。◕‿◕。
Great show, Matt. And thank you for playing one of my favorite bands, Yello.
Would you consider playing The Flying Lizards’ song “Window”? I was just a kid when this album came out, and I cherish it. This song was my very first introduction to (what I later realized was) a gothic song. Thank you!
Great show last night as per usual. Really enjoyed the darkwave backstory and then hearing your first four tracks ever played, super cool!
Could we hear “Blood Bitch” by Cocteau Twins on a future episode?
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
What a great show tonight! The choices alone by DK’s, X, Lords, among others: great. I’m still waiting to hear anything from Death In June, or Wayne County & Thr Electric Chairs
Only caught the last hour+ and am looking forward to grokking in fullness tomorrow – Nice playlist! Typing this as i wait for The Jesus Lizard. Excited!
For a future episode, how about Jane’s live version of Pigs in Zen from their first album?
Thanks for all the darkness matt!
Hey Matt, love hearing some punk classics thrown in the sets lately. In honor of that and the release of the first set of Fugazi’s live recordings, how about one of their early Repeater or 13 Songs classics? Thanks!
Wow, another awesome show from start to finish! Thanks for playing my Bowie request (the drumming blows my mind on that one). And it’s always a treat to hear so many personal favorites in the line up – X, The Smiths, JAMC, Television, Kraftwerk, Love and Rockets…
A request for a future episode:
The Jesus and Mary Chain “New kind of kick”
I don’t know how readily available that is…I think I remember it from a CD single?!? lol
Thank you! Wishing the dark wavers a good week.
Television was new to my ears and that was some good stuff!
Great show. How about I am Damo Suzuki by the Fall sometime soon. Thanks
Seconded!
Matt Matt Matt….my God Matt!I can’t sing your praises enough!Even though I can’t sing,lol!
Thanx for a smashing show & the requests,it made my evening! Here are more ideas if you will.
Buffalo-STUMP(A Fierce Pancake)
Walking In The Sky-NIK TURNER
Feurio!-EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN
As always ALL THE BEST,KEEPING IT REAL,
KEEPING IT DARK. M.
Great show! Final hour was well and truly sick. For a future show, could you play “Room 429” by Cop Shoot Cop?
Nice one! I don’t think I’ve heard any ¢ $ ¢ during my time as a DW listener, and have been wavering on requesting one of their older ones (She’s Like A Shot, Chameleon Man).
Can we hear “Head On” by Loop
Thanks.
Very cool show this week. loved the show opener by Cabaret Voltaire. Do my ears detect an influence on ‘Pretty Hate Machine’? Loved hearing your 4-song DW debut. Tonight’s Severed Head song has cemented them as an artist I’ve come to love as a result of discovering them here on Dark Wave.
RIP Mr. David Thomas. Aside from Pere Ubu, perhaps Rocket From The Tombs’ ’30 Seconds Over Tokyo’ or ‘Sonic Reducer’ live (from 1975!!) would be a fitting tribute? Thanks, Matt!
Thank you very much for the Sugar Cubes. I have always liked that one.
Show was amazing and love that “Sex Dwarf” was one of the first songs you played. You have kept up the amazing work since then Sir.
Thanks for the great show. Have a good week.
From a long-time listener, first-time commenter, another great program in the books—especially enjoyed the distilled history of Darkwave on SiriusXM. For a future episode, a few requests for your consideration:
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds — Cocks ‘n’ Asses (b-side from The Weeping Song single)
You and Me (Less Than Zero) — Glenn Danzig and The Power & The Fury Orchestra (from the Less Than Zero OST)
This Mortal Coil — We Never Danced (I, too, love a Neil Young/Darkwave convergence)
Thank you for continuing to deliver the best programming, Matt.
Sinéad O’Connor – Jackie (1987) Apple Music + Qobuz
Fudge Tunnel – Hate Song (1991) Apple Music + Qobuz + Bandcamp
Hi Matt, I would like to make a request. Labor of Death by FOREVER GREY. I’m dedicating this song to a new friend Danny. Thank you.
I haven’t heard that PTV song in 25 years and I’m walking my dog and it comes on and I fall right in and still know most of the words! Thanks.
1st Wave is my favorite channel on Sirius XM & your Dark Wave is my favorite show on it. I’m an industrial goth & I have two songs I would like to request. The is first is Deutschmaschine by And One. I know it was made in ’94, but it’s one of my favorite industrial songs right now. The second is Amoeba by Adolescents. Thanks for considering & have a good day!
Hi
Like to request for next shoegaze block.
Chapterhouse- come heaven or My Bloody Valentine – I only said
Thanks
Hey Matt, my song request is “An Invitation” by Fang. If you could dedicate it to my husband. Great show and thanks!
Fine show all around! Was kind of relieved that the Severed Heads song you played was “A Million Angels” rather than “First Steps” like the playlist on Slicing Up Eyeballs said.
As long as we’re on their Since the Accident album, I’d like to hear Godsong sometime. Thanks! You do great work.
