“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).
The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.
Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

Tysm for playing “I Wanna Be Yours”! Awesome episode tonight.
Hi Matt, please play Christian Woman by Type O Negative. Have not heard it is years. Thank you.
Thanks for the Concrete Blonde. I swear she never gets the credit she deserves as a songwriter.
This is hands down my favorite episode of the year. Every single hour was amazing. I may have to program this set list as a playlist on Spotify or Amazon.
Thanks again for the great music. Have a good week.
Nice show tonight!
Alien Sex Fiend – New Christian Music
Front 242 – Kommando

Great show loved the variety of different genres mixed in. I really loved that love and rockets cut. For the next episode can I please hear
“Spooky vibes” by blind mr jones
It’s my birthday and that is one of my favorite neo-psych songs.
Thanks, -Best wishes to all.
Happy Birthday!
I got some request!
Whammy Kiss – the B52s
Contact the Fact – The Sound
Keep rockin my man!
In absolutely no universe are the B-52s any part of dark wave or industrial. They are literally referred to as a “party” band. You might wanna call Richard Blade for this request.
How about solo Steve Kilbey for next Sunday?
Enjoyed the darkness for this April episode!
May 2, 1989 was the release of both “Disintegration” and “The Stone Roses”. In honor of those two albums, could I please request
one track from each album? Thanks!
I’ve been enjoying streaming the show on my early morning long drives to work. Thanks for keeping me awake.
Can you play something from Steroid Maximus?
Thanks
Amen to JG Thirwell and his feast of sounds as Steroid Maximus! He is doing a show as XORDOX at the end of May in New York, similar atmospheric soundtrack-ish compositions. Can’t wait to see it.
Great set last night! Loved the punk block in the middle of hour 2. Patti Smith followed by Moz was quite lovely as well.
Could we hear “ICB” by New Order on a future installment? Perhaps on the May 18 show as that will be the 45th anniversary of his death.
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
OMG OMG OMG
You played Baby Ford!!! I love you so much!! Best effing show ever!!! Thank you so much!!! I wish I could tag Swedish Egil!!!! As I said… he introduced me to so much industrial music.
Absolutely stellar program this week Matt! I loved every hour! Thank you for playing Black Flag – been a long damn time since I heard that! Beers Steers – damn that brought me back to the club days….. MANY years ago lol! Wave of Mutilation is a gorgeous song. After eating way too many chocolate bunnies…..how about these possibilities for next time:
Galaxie 500 – Ceremony (New Order cover)
Echo and the Bunnymen – Ticket to Ride (Beatles cover)
Lykke Li – Unchained Melody (Todd Duncan cover)
Thanks again as always! 。◕‿◕。
I’ll second the Galaxie 500 cover of “Ceremony”.
Thirded! Stellar cover.
I did not realize a cover of Ceremony by Galaxy 500 existed. Can’t wait to check it out!
The Church – Magician Among The Spirits (1996) Apple Music
The Grinning Plowman – Inquisitions (1988) Vinyl Only
Hi Matt, I really liked the last program. I loved the punk block and The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Pixies and The Gun Club tracks were great.
I was wondering if you could please please please play any of the following tracks to rock out the ending of a great weekend filled with Levitation fest here in Austin. Which will be hosting all three of these bands. If you can I appreciate it. Thank you and have a great week.
“Freak Scene” – Dinosaur Jr.
“Submission” – Galaxie 500
“From A Motel 6” – Yo La Tengo
wow, i hope to get to Levitation Fest some day….!
I missed the memo on the squirrely version’s release – so fun, Al sounds pretty good!
Their show coming up and other nostalgia has been leading me down a wax trax rabbit hole of late – i learned Jim Nash’s daughter Julia’s fav track from the label is Cowgirl by Underworld, so I’ll request that. even if it’s not _entirely_ darkwave… it’s a pretty killer track!
Thanks for another fantabulous episode Matt!
Also that Baby Ford track took me back!!
Thank you for another fine serving of the dark stuff! Loved the punk block, Pixies, The Sound, Patti Smith, Morrissey, Dave Gahan & Soulsavers and the perfect Love and Rockets closer.
A request for a future episode:
The Jesus and Mary Chain “Half Way to Crazy” (from Automatic)
As always, thank you!
How about Skeleton Kiss by Christian Death
Missed the show this past weekend. Always a good listen when I get the chance!
Requests:
Sonic Youth – Society is a Hole (Bad Moon Rising)
Live Skull – Cavity (Dusted)
Xiu Xiu / Michael Gira – Under Pressure (Women as Lovers)
UK Subs – Private Army (Magic E.P)
UK Subs – Primary Strength (Magic E.P)
Fantastic set, I wouldn’t mind hearing
Crank by Catherine Wheel or anything off Chrome. In any of the future shows. Thank you for the most diverse and wonderfully entertaining music show on SiriusXM.
Recorded in the spring of 1985 The Damned’s, The Shadow of Love” (Ten Inches of Hell Mix) seemed to be on every club’s sound system after it released. Dark Waves may be the only place we can hear it now. Help us Matt, you’re our only hope.
Hey Matt, great show. Seemed a bit dancier than usual. I loved the hour 3 selections by The Sound and Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry and was very glad for the introduction to Crank Call Love Affair.
I am posting this after hearing the sad news of Dave Thomas’ passing. RIP
Perhaps in tribute you could play Pere Ubu’s Final Solution.
Hi Matt, although not a normal Dark Wave band, how about The Fixx’s Wake Up. It has a darker side to it. They have been playing it on their recent tour. Best
I know it’s too late for this week but maybe next week?
Wiseblood – Stumbo
Thanks!
Xymox – Shore Down Under …. or basically anything from the Phoenix (1991) album
I got some request!
Whammy Kiss – the B52s
Contact the Fact – The Sound
Keep rockin my man!
Hi Matt – can I request Recoil – “Faith Healer”? – – possibly a track overlooked by fans of Nitzer Ebb and Depeche Mode. Thanks!
