“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The show airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes, but there’s no guarantee they’ll be played. They must fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era. And not be something the host really dislikes. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. Request:
    Rational by King Cobb Steelie

  2. Oh, thank you – Orange Sector was my request, love that one (sounds like Die Krupps but so what, it’s good!). Also loved hearing Signal Aout 42, a different Section 25 song (starting to really like them!) and Iron Curtain.

Just thought I’d mention in case anyone doesn’t know: TEAR GARDEN are going on tour in September, it’s simultaneously their FIRST EVER TOUR as well as their 40th Anniversary Tour! Feels like it deserves a mention on the show soon! With that in mind, here’s just two requests for future shows:

Tear Garden – War Crier (from “Astral Elevator” 2025 – Cevin strongly implied that track will be played on tour)
Edward Ka-Spel – Dark Horse (from his new album “Hallucinating Happy Land” 2026)

Actually I think a block of Skinny Puppy & LPD offshoots would be fantastic! Puppy, Pink Dots or Ka-Spel solo, Tear Garden, Cevin Key solo, Download, Doubting Thomas, Cyberaktif, etc. So many to choose from!

    • Got tix for Independent in SF mid-Sep … so stoked for this, can’t wait!!!

…. “You and me and Rainbows!!!” :-)

      Cheers

  3. Thanks for playing two(!) of my requests! Lots of highlights this week, including two bands that I only barely know, Snake Corps and Iron Curtain.

Some new requests for future shows:

Savage Republic – When All Else Fails
    Pressurehed – Hedstrap
    Cyberaktif – Paradiessiets
    Bamboo Crisis – DNA

  4. 1st Request- not very “DW” as a band but hear me out- Tom Tom Club, “Lorelei” so ephemeral
    OR
2nd Request-my jaw dropped when I heard Spike Hellis new single . “BY GOD”. just saw them concert in Las Vegas. Wow. I can’t help but hear Ministry, NIN and Cabaret Voltaire influence

    • I’ll second the Spike Hellis request, they got that classic EBM / electro-industrial sound, and the new album is really good. Also they were great live, when I saw them supporting Front 242 two years ago.

  5. Hey Matt!

Awesome show as per usual…. loved Hour 2 with vintage New Order, Ministry and FLA!
A belated thanks BTW for playing Deeper Deepest Dub / FoN last week! Monstrous riffs galore! :-)

… Let’s keep the riffs going! How about this gem from ‘latter-years’ CoX? :

Kiss and Tell / Clan of Xymox

    Cheers!

  6. ‘Your Silent Face’ is stately – almost majestic -in its synth layering, bass parts, guitar lines, and drum programming. We blasted this thing through the record store’s audio system when it was released. It’s a puzzle why that vocal take went on it. Bernard has pitch and timing problems through the verses and choruses, and it sounds like it was just a guide track, particularly with that petulant last line.

  7. aaa thanks so much for playing my excessive force request!! absolutely loved tonights communion, especially the orange sector, fla, and SA 42 tracks. as always, can’t wait for next weeks dark wave. keep the moody tunes going!! ^_^

  8. Constantine

Can you play Sinking by the Cure

I was wondering if you could consider KMFDM “Juke Joint Jezebel”
    Have a great day ☺️

  18. Bauhaus – Hair of the Dog

  19. Hi Matt! That was an excellent show last night. I loved Echo and the Bunnymen’s new track.

  20. Severed Heads

  21. Big Hollow Man by Danielle Dax and Laughing Song by The Residents, please, kneeling on rough pavement.

  22. Wow Matt you absolutely crushed it this week on the program….all three hours were pure gold. Thank you for paying tribute to the first Lola on my behalf….I often think back to that festival….I was only 19 at the time, but recall it with clarity and fond memories to have been a part of it! New Order, OMD, and The Chameleons selections are some of my favorite songs….Swamp Thing is simply perfection. I adore it. Anyway some possible suggestions for next time:

    Murder Inc – Murder Inc
    Coil – Panic
    Skinny Puppy – Nature’s Revenge

    Thanks again as always!!!!! 。◕‿◕。

  23. Excellent selections! Thanks for playing the Bauhaus reuqest, I know that’s a lengthy one, so good. Industrial block from RevCo to Excessive Force was tasty. Loved hearing new Bunnymen, looking forward to the new album. And the Lola block was fantastic. Can’t believe I’d forgotten how epic Three Days is. Great The The selection as well.

I think there may have been an Executive Slacks request or two in prior weeks so I’m just going to second a dealer’s choice request for some Executive Slacks.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  24. Good one! Enjoyed the Lollapalooza block!

  25. I just heard about William Orbit’s passing, such a talented producer and remixer! How about his remix of “Shame” from Nitzer Ebb, or really any of his remixes of Human League, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, or Peter Gabriel?

  26. As most everyone said, the Lola block was awesome. Great show this week. And thanks for the Iron Curtain.

Looking forward to this Sunday’s show. Have a great week.

  27. Another really great show this week Matt.
A group I find that is not represented enough on this show is The Psychedelic Furs. Please play All That Money Wants.

    • Just to add to the show at hand.

The Bolshoi, The Chameleons, New Order, and the phenomenal closing duo of Simple Minds and The Cult were all pure gems!

  28. Pretty & Twisted – Souvenir

  29. Hi Matt, can you please play Xmal Deutschland- Polarlicht? For my gf Dallana, happy birthday.

  30. A few favorites: “Swamp Thing,” “Love Is Stronger Than Death,” “Your Silent Face” and “Something I Can Never Have.” And thanks as always for throwing in some OMD. I started it again this morning and “Televison Saved My Life” really stood out. Will have to listen to more Iron Curtain.

  31. I listen to your radio show every week, but I’m curious about one thing.

You bill yourself as a blogger, but you haven’t posted anything to the website in years.

I used to check the site daily and really enjoyed your post.

If you’re not going to be continuing as a blogger, maybe you can get someone else to take over for you.

I say this respectfully, as I truly did enjoy the site and now find myself missing it.
