Dark Wave Playlists — May 24, 2026 at 10:49 pm

Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Matt Sebastian (5/24/26)

Andrew Eldritch of The Sisters of Mercy

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The show airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes, but there’s no guarantee they’ll be played. They must fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era. And not be something the host really dislikes. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

Thank you for my Nitzer Ebb request…I listen to that album all of the time…so good!! For the June 14 program (which also happens to be my birthday!!) I would absolutely love any of the following songs:

    Furniture – Brilliant Mind

  7. Instead of my usual semi-obscure industrial requests, how about some lesser known bands from the Australian gothic-country/blues punk (or whatever you wanna call it) scene, similar to the Birthday Party and Crime and The City Solution:

    The Triffids – Lonely Stretch
Scientists – Set It on Fire
Hugo Race – Rue Morgue Blues
The Blackeyed Susans – A Curse on You

    • We drank green margaritas
      Danced with sweet senoritas
And we all went home as winners of a kind
You said, “I guarantee we’ll have more fun
Drink till the moon becomes the sun
And in the taxi home I’ll sing you a Triffids song”

  13. Hi, outstanding consistent playlist. As always! Your creative selections keep me rolling, and my mind busy, as I drive my daily delivery route around Arizona!

Suggestion for next week’s playlist: Concrete Blonde- Tomorrow, Wendy.

  14. Was in Montreal, Canada this weekend and had the experience of listening live on EST, late night! Props to the darkwavers back east who stay up late. That first hour takes the checkered flag, wow! Thanks for playing my Bunnymen request, and nope, they did not play that cut in San Francisco. I too was bummed to miss Cabaret Voltaire, they played the very same night as the Bunnymen. Is “Monitor” the best Banshees song? Contender for sure. The Fall, SP, Pink Turns Blue, and more Big Black and Wire were welcome highlights.

Here’s my almost summer request for a future communion: “UV Ray” by JAMC.

Hope the road trip was awesome Matt, have a great week. Cheers!

  15. The Durutti Column – Never Known or Tomorrow

  16. Rocking show!

    Here’s a request — Wire – Two People in a Room.

    Thanks!

  17. Hey Matt!

Hope you had an awesome Memorial Day! Many thanks for spinning that TKK track…

Feels like a great time for some violin to get the summer season rollin’ properly ? …. perhaps just a few memorable intro chords, anyway? e.g. this request:

Christian Death // Will O’ The Wisp

    Cheers!

  18. Shoc Corridor – Iceberg (1983) Apple Music + Qobuz + Bandcamp

  19. Matt,

I know you like covers, but good luck finding a copy of this one…

Ethyl Meatplow cover the Carpenters’ ‘Close to You” on *Happy Days, Sweetheart*.

I have a FLAC copy of the CD that I found on an old hard drive. Hit me up if you could play this and can’t find it otherwise, sorry if that’s a stupid thing to say or an illegal one. I’m sure that this will satiate your taste for covers for another twenty mins. :-)

VIC from Tucson but currently in Columbia, Mo

  20. Thank you Matt an amazing and awesome show!

Thank you for Monitor by Souxisie and Dark Times by the Passage.

Wonderful to hear those again and share with other listeners!

Love the Skinny Puppy and Frontline Assembly and Ministry. Long Live Industrial Music!

    John from Tucson

  21. Jim Cowan

Great show this past weekend, Matt! I would really appreciate it if you could play “Thank You America ” by Cabaret Voltaire. Thanks a lot!

  22. Funny story about the show opener. I was in Petco doing some shopping early in the afternoon on Wednesday. You know how there’s always music playing low overhead in these stores? I couldn’t believe my ears when Lucretia came on!

    Thanks for a great show Matt : – )

  23. Dream Home Heartache is such a great track. How about playing the cover Rozz Williams did of it? The version on the Dream Home Heartache EP he put out was good, but the version on the On The Altar/In The Heart (In The Heart track 1) was better.

  24. Requests to think about, thank you for all the great music Matt, your show is the best thing on SiriusXM!

Flipper: Ha Ha Ha. Bay Area dark punk classic

    Henry Badowski: My Face

    Jah Wobble: Trench Warfare

Ignatius Jones: Like a Ghost (Australian dark synth) Written by Steve Kileby of The Church

  25. This was a top tier show and epic set!!!!
