“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The show airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes, but there’s no guarantee they’ll be played. They must fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era. And not be something the host really dislikes. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

    Heart and Soul- Joy Division
    Twenty Four Hours- Joy Division
    Digital- Joy Division
    Game Above my Head- Blancmange

  4. I really liked the Mobile Homes track you played 2.weeks ago; I thought I knew a of the Depeche Mode sound-alike bands like Ceta Javu, Camouflage and Red Flag, but now I can add them to the list. I also dug Depth Charge last week; J Saul Kane needs to get his flowers for the great music he produced, RIP!

For a future episode how about Bel Canto – Birds of Passage? Also, more Psyche!

  5. Sister I’m a Poet – Morrissey

  6. Sean Whitaker

I saw The Veldt with The Chameleons recently. Solid show but not a great turnout of fans. I’m not sure how these bands continue to suport themselves. The same occurance for a recent show with ADULT. However, it has been great to see The Chameleons still performing and writing great new music. I went from never thinking I would see them live to seeing them 4 times. They always sound great and still relevent, especially with the new material. Catch Mark on Patreon. He offers up one off acoustic insights to upcoming material. He’s very honest and thoughtful as well.

    The Chameleons – Magnolia

  7. Erich Häring

Loved hearing The Afghan Whigs tonight Matt! I was hoping to hear “A Realness” by Boy Harsher or “Stay” by Shakespeare Sister next week!

  8. CARMEN ILARDI

I would love to hear Justified and Ancient by The KLF and Tammy Wynette.

  9. Enjoyed the balance of each hour, and the cover choices.

I’d like to request anything of your choosing from Chapterhouse’s Whirpool, as they are currently celebrating it’s 35th anniversary with a tour (I’m going to catch them at the end of the month). Thanks!

  10. Tony (from Boston)

Thanks for playing my Go4 request on last night’s show, Matt! Much appreciated. Great show all around as well!

  11. Tony (from Boston)

Also – beautiful cover of New Order’s “Regret” by the Whigs. Never heard it before. Will be listening to on repeat.

  12. New Model Army – The Price

  13. Love to hear Backseat Education by Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction

  14. Thirlwell2000

Always good to hear some Foetus. Thanks, Matt.

  15. Hey Matt. Great show last night.

  16. Another great show! Future consideration: Faith No More-We Care a Lot
    Thanks Matt

  17. Hello Matt happy Monday to you!!! I absolutely loved this week’s edition of DW…the shoegaze is always top notch and all 3 hours kicked major butt. Some possible suggestions for next time:

Manic Street Preachers – A Design For Life
The Jesus and Mary Chain – Almost Gold
    Lightning Seeds – Pure
The Mighty Lemon Drops – Inside Out

These songs remind me of Spring. Bring it!!

Wishing you the very best always!! 。◕‿◕。

  18. Constantine

G…. Damn Matt !!!! I can’t even request anything right now, I think that 2nd hour was the best hour in radio history and I’ve created a replica playlist and I’m just playing it over and over !!!!

  19. Matt, terrific samples falling late on Mom’s Day,very thoughtful, yer mum should be proud.
Here’s a spec or two for next week or whatever.
Keep the Wave Dark my friend & ALL THE BEST.
    KNIFELADDER-Head Of The Serpent
    FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY-The Chair
    MANUFACTURE-Slugger
    M.

  20. Amazing show! All 3 hours finally tuned indeed. Big Black covering James Brown?! Oh yeah. Sublime shoegaze block. The Matt’s faves block was super fun, and thanks for including my Suede request. Suede two weeks in a row is a tonic we all need. Now if they’d only announce some US tour dates…. And the answer to your question at the top of hour 3 is yes sir, “Dangerous” is the best DM b-side. Although “Pleasure, Little Treasure” gives it a run for the money.

Request for a future communion: “From the Cradle to the Grave” by Crispy Ambulance.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  21. I love your shoegaze blocks Matt! Would you consider playing “Hooligan”, by The Heart Throbs?

  22. Great to see The Chameleons getting some airtime, especially one of the new tracks from last year’s amazing Arctic Moon album. It’s extraordinary stuff, as always. Historically underrated band, but one of the most influential post punk bands of all time. I suspect the longer than average song length hurt them somewhat back in the 80’s as it didn’t fit standard radio playlists. See them live if you have a chance. Cheers to you fellas for playing the haunting, goosebump-rendering “Feels Like the End of the World”.

  23. Could you please play the 12” remix of “Hot With Fleas” by Severed Heads? I never hear it anywhere else. Thanks Matt!

  24. Hey Matt!

Awesome show, loved the shoegaze set that followed KJ, plus the follow-up Vicious Pink !!
Here’s a request going back a bit into PTV’s early 90’s catalog … this would be super cool, or really any other track that you may enjoy off of Ultradrug!)

Back to Reality // Psychic TV (RIP G-P-O)

    Cheers!

  25. Loved this week’s show, Matt!

Big Black into Foetus is a classy one-two punch. Underneath The Stars was a fantastic Cure deep cut that I need to get more familiar with. Liked the song by Breathless a lot. 13 Chime is always a welcome addition, fits in just about anywhere you decide to play ’em. Always love the shoegaze blocks, and Curve has been a really nice addition to the last couple. Also loved the mix of your favorites in hour 3.

Looking forward to the next transmission

  26. Front 242 – Welcome to Paradise

Shout out to my daughter Mackenzie on this one please! Thanks!

  27. Another great one — loved the block of favorites at the end. Just finished last weeks show again, and it’s definitely one of your best. I have really grown to love that Lead Into Gold song.

As far as Depeche Mode B-sides, my favorite is “Love In Itself.4 (lounge version)” but might be a little out there for Dark Wave..

  28. I’m always happy to rock out to Superblast! Would like to request a deep cut on the Lush “Spooky” album called Fantasy.
And my husband requests “Model Worker” by Magazine.

  29. Hey Matt, you were right about that Depeche Mode song you played, it was good and also the echo and bunny men song played this night and some others as why I stick around every faithful week.; )

Makes me think of another song for request by Depeche Mode – Kaleid (7 inch version) off of Violator. Or another good song to sum up how I felt this week. Public Image Limited – Disappointed.

  30. Nico – Genghis Khan (1981) Apple Music + Qobuz
Butthole Surfers – To Parter (1985) Apple Music + Qobuz

  31. Have you ever played anything, by Deadstar Assembly? A friend of mine, is in the band. It would be cool, to hear their version of Send Me An Angel sometime! I’m a new listener, to this radio program. I’ve heard only a couple of episodes, but so far I’m pretty glad that I stumbled upon it!

  32. Valorie Alvarez-Mendoza

    Hi…Matt. Only if you can…
I would love to tell my spouse, Javier, Happy 4th Anniversary…(May, the 16th)…”A Means To An End;” our wedding song.
46 years later…”DECADES;” for Ian, because it has been decades. (May the 18th)…Rest In Peace.
And, for, Van. (May the 24th)…my baby, I miss you. Everyday. You are, “The Eternal.”

  33. My Bloody Valentine – You Never Should
