“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The show airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).
The most recent two episodes are available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.
Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes, but there’s no guarantee they’ll be played. They must fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era. Hey matt! Really great show tonight.
Thank you very much for playing my request for Psyche. You rock, Matt! Cheers!
The Stranglers – Outside Tokyo
Absolutely legendary lineup tonight, I’d love to hear “Stay” by Shakespeare Sister or maybe a track from She Killed In Ecstasy next weekend. Thanks Matt.
I’d like to hear some Helios Creed, maybe “Blood Red.” Thank you Matt!
I’d love a mini-Chrome block, that Helios Creed song, maybe I’m a Gentleman from Damon Edge and anything from Chrome.

I never figured Martini Ranch to be Dark Wave, but was glad you played them. The late, great Bill Paxton was the vocalist of course. Trivia: the music video for “Reach” was directed by James Cameron (Avatar, Aliens guy). Deeper trivia: the video has an appearance by Bud Cort of Harold and Maude fame.
Fun fact….my grandmother is from the same small town in Ontario as James Cameron!
Thanks for the trivia! Harold and Maude is my mom’s all-time favorite movie. I just watched the video. Is Bud the guy cleaning the outlaw’s bike?
Great show as always! Here’s my requests/suggestions
White Lies- To lose my life
Big Electric Cat – Orchid dreaming
Fab show Matt! Thanks for playing my request
Thanks for playing the Martini Ranch request. Bit of an oddball choice on my end, I’m aware, but something I greatly appreciate about this show is your willingness to weave in and out of any rigid sense of genre.
An aside: that Depth Charge track hit just perfectly last night!
How about “Cities” by Talking Heads for a future show?
Good day Matt! Thank you for playing my Monkeyland request! Is there a bad Chameleons song? I think not! Another stellar playlist this week. I wonder…how do you go about choosing the songs? Do you have a process? You must have so much music at your disposal…it must be hard to pick! Anyway …. some possible suggestions for next time:
Orgy – Stitches
Powerman 5000 – Nobody’s Real
Nitzer Ebb – All Over
Thanks again as always!! 。◕‿◕。
Oooh, second that “Stitches” request! Great pull!
Extra great show – loved the Depth Charge, Shriekback, The Sound, Fad Gadget, and so much more.
Has there been any Big Black in the last few shows? If not, how about Pavement Saw or the live version of Cables??
Thanks Matt!
As you know Evan, we can never have too much Big Black. :)
Hi Matt! In honor of their upcoming tour how about Hold On by Nitzer Ebb? Thanks in advance!
Please play KMFDM – No Meat No Man
Hey Matt, fantastic show this week! Really dug this week’s Skeletal Family and Throwing Muses offerings, the double dose of monkey-related songs by Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry and The Chameleons, and thank your for introducing me to Fini Tribe, great heavy unfamiliar sounds. Cheers and looking forward to the next show!
Thank you so much for playing my Skinny Puppy request!
And my Rozz request the week before. I’d really love to see that documentary, though I doubt it will play near me.
Thanks for the sonic joy! I appreciate you : – )
Cracking show this week Matt. Thanks for playing the Depth Charge 12″ version, that was super cool. That block to kick off hour 2 totally ripped, especially into the best L&R b-side. You also played arguably the best Smiths b-side in hour 3.
With the Ian, Will and the band coming to town in a couple of weeks, here’s another great b-side for your consideration, one that I do not expect to hear live: “The Subject” by Echo and the Bunnymen.
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
Hey Matt!
Thanks so much for spinning the He Said!! :)
Here’s a relatively deep cut from TKK, perhaps you can play this on a future show?
These Remains // My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult
Cheers!
Excellent playlist as usual this week.
A few suggestions for future shows.
—
Lucky Pierre — Communiqué
Meat Beat Manifesto — Prime Audio Soup
She Past Away – Ritual
Covenant – Bullet [Club Version]
How fitting, playing “Everybody Knows”. I just saw that movie for the first time this weekend.
For a future show, could you play “Angel” by Pig?
Good show!
Tommy De Chirico – Flower Into the Factory
Psychedelic Furs – Here come cowboys
I second that great choice!
New Rose by Motorhead and The Damned.
D-7 by Nirvana (The Wipers)
Physical (You’re so) by Nine Inch Nails (Adam Ant)
Warsaw by Joy Division
Thank you for playing my Bowie request – still lyrically relevant, same can be said of the songs by The The and The Sound. Other standouts include Shriekback, The Smiths, and Fad Gadget.
No request this week – just sending a thank you for serving us a top notch show, week after week. You’re gracious in playing so many of our requests (including those that stretch the boundaries of the genre). Thank you!
Thank you Matt for the Fini Tribe, a tasty morsel from a unique group. And Fad Gadget, Frank Tovey was the best.
Here’s some dark and obscure music to consider for future shows:
The Passage: Dark Times
The Passage: Troops Out
Siouxsie: Headcut “I saw you in the gallery, with your torso and your family”
Siouxsie: Monitor (lesser known SATB songs but still rockin’ to this day)
Jeff and Jane Hudson: Abadan (from 1981’s World Trade EP, core dark electronica with early Roland Synths and 808 drum machine. Love this one. Listen to the lyrics from 45 years ago and still relevant today about oil and rockets)
Jeff and Jane Hudson: PCP (speaks for itself)
Harrison Chappel: Like a Ghost; Interstellar Safeway (if you can find it somewhere!)
Thank you, I love the show and we listen every week!
Cranes – Flute Song (2001) Apple Music + Qobuz
See See Rider – Slip So Slow (1990) Apple Music + Qobuz
Another great show, I am about halfway through my second listen. I loved “Dead By Dawn” and I REALLY loved He Said. At first I thought they were ripping off “Ahead,” then I looked them up, and it all made sense. That album is now in my Discogs cart.
Speaking of Wire, I know you’ve played a couple tracks from 154 relatively recently, so I pulled out the album again. A couple other great ones, either of which I’d love to hear: “On Returning” or “40 Versions.”
And yes, Matt, we all think you are sexy, most especially when you play our requests!
Love the show; hearing the unfamiliar and the long-lost.
A humble request for President Gas, by the Psychedelic Furs.
