Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (7/6/25)

Xmal Deutschland

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. A reminder about requests: Playlists for this show need to be made several weeks in advance, so when you’re asking to hear certain songs, it’ll be a few shows down the road before they can be considered for inclusion. But, as always, thank you for your requests. They’re GREATLY appreciated.

  2. Muchos gracias for not just one, but two requests!

If you could play Mark Lanegan’s cover of “Carry Home” (or even the Gun Club original, if it’s more in keeping in tone), I’d greatly appreciate it.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

    Hi, Matt –
This has been an awesome episode! I loved hearing from Julian Cope, The Bolshoi, and The The, my favorite. They were brilliant on their Ensouled world tour – I got to see them last October, and it was a dream come true.
Looking forward to next week’s installment!

  15. Wowza what a program this week! It was doubly awesome because I was out taking aurora photos on the shores of Lake Ontario while listening live….I highly recommend lol!! The fireflies were great too! Anywho— thank you for playing my JAMC request – feedback IS music imo lol!

  16. That remix of Soon is… one of the greatest remixes, ever? RIP Andrew Weatherall!

Great episodes over the last few weeks, as always! Crash Worship / Jack Danger, Rollerskate Skinny, tribute covers last week, the remix of Head like a Hole that was unknown to me even though that MaxiSingle was the first CD I owned… lots of fun stuff!!

For a future episode, some song ideas:
    – So What off of In Case You Didn’t Feel Like Showing Up
    – the Guy Called Gerald remix of Fool’s Gold
    – Poster Children – If You See Kay

thanks for everything you do, Matt!

  17. I just got satellite radio a few months ago and now my wife and I plan our Sunday nights around your show. Dropping the top on the car and cruising around Northern California for the next 3 hrs. Having All Cats Are Grey broadcast to my radio while in a twisty canyon far from cell or terrestrial radio felt particularly cool. The best show I’ve ever listened to not only hear music I love but to discover music I missed along the way. It’s the first time I have looked forward to a radio show in a long long time and every show I have heard has been Excellent!

    If possible when ever possible,

    Two Witches “Cat’s Eyes”

Kind of sounds like it might fit in the mix.

  18. Superb set. It’s like you were reading my mind from last week’s request for a dealer’s choice Executive Slacks cut, excellent selection. Bad Seeds covering the King, Section 25, Sonic Youth, and The The were all highlights. And I’m getting excited for NIN in Oakland early next month.

Request for a future communion, one that has the sounds of Sunday summer evenings: “I Fell in Love Last Night” by Heavenly.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  19. Hey Matt, Great show as usual, May i request “Amnesia” From the last Alien Sex Fiend record Possessed ?

    Thank you,
    Peter

  20. Joe Achino

Could you please play “Fuel” by Echo and the Bunnymen, please.

  21. Thanks for playing my request and perfect timing for the 20th anniversary of my favorite KMFDM album. For a future request and whenever you are able to squeeze it in New Order ‘Every Little Counts.’

  22. Hey, haven’t heard Cop Shoot Cop on the show before! At least not as far as I recall; maybe you did.
$10 Bill is a cool song from that album. Thanks.
Your show is truly the best.

  23. Great show as always, Matt! Among other great selections, loved the stretch from Nick Cave through Sonic Youth into Cop Shoot Cop’s Room 429. I remember reading someone’s request for that one…Good on ya, whoever you were! There seemed to be a theme of slow-burn urban decay running through those. And then continued into brilliant tracks by Killing Joke and The Cure. Til the next transmission!

  24. Dead Or Alive – Number Eleven (1981) Apple Music + Qobuz
Bomb The Bass – 5ml Barrel (1995) Apple Music + Qobuz
