In a move that once might have seemed unthinkable, New Order — a flagship act of the iconic Factory Records imprint — has signed to the equally legendary Mute label, long home to contemporaries Depeche Mode and Erasure, as the group continues to work on its new album.

Well, that last mea culpa, back in May, deserves a mea cupla all of its own. But here we are, four months later. And we’ve finally coughed up a new entry in our Auto Reverse mixtape series. But it’s a good one: A tribute to the late, great BBC DJ and tastemaker John Peel.

Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey and Howard Jones will take advantage of a night off for the synthpop-flavored Retro Futura package tour on Monday and perform a last-minute club show together in San Francisco. The two are slated to play Monday night at SF’s Mezzanine,

It’s not clear yet whether a full tour is brewing, but Tears For Fears — who have been at work on a follow-up to 2004’s Everybody Loves a Happy Ending — have confirmed five live dates in the U.S. next month, with shows booked in Texas, Oklahoma, California and Oregon.

Bob Mould swung by “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Wednesday to promote his new album Beauty & Ruin, tearing through a pair of the record’s tracks — “The War” on air, and “Hey Mr. Grey” as a web exclusive — with Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins filling in for Mould’s regular stickman, Jon Wurster.

It took 35 years for Kate Bush to follow up her lone tour, but she returned to the stage in London last night for her first full performance since May 14, 1979, performing a highly theatrical, 22-song set that featured nearly all of her classic LP Hounds of Love, the second side of Aerial and a few other selections.

Reformed post-punk legends Mission of Burma hit the West Coast of the U.S. later this week for a four-date tour that includes an appearance at Seattle’s Bumbershoot festival, and, ahead of that, they’ve treated fans to a bit of new music in the form of this rehearsal video.

As promised earlier this month, cancellation-prone Morrissey is returning to the road this fall — he’s just announced 18 new tour dates in Europe this October and November — although that trek now comes in support of an album that no longer has a record label or is even available digitally.
