Dark Wave Playlists — June 28, 2026 at 10:57 pm

Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Matt Sebastian (6/28/26)

The Sugarcubes

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The show airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes, but there’s no guarantee they’ll be played. They must fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era. And not be something the host really dislikes. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. Great show again, and a rare one where I actually knew all the artists played (although The Lucy Show only barely). And thanks for playing my 23 Skidoo request from a while back!

Here’s a new batch of requests for future shows:

    Ford Proco – Garage MP
Crash Course in Science – No More Hollow Doors
    Paul Roland – Dark Carnival
Renegade Soundwave – Probably a Robbery
Pop Will Eat Itself (feat. Stephen Mallinder) – 1000 X No (PWEI 40 rework)

  2. Like Mikko, I think I knew almost everything – except that very odd Depeche Mode mix which I really did like! Here’s a few requests for the future, looks like some bands haven’t been played for 8-9 years on the show!

    1. Legendary Pink Dots – Remember Me This Way
    2. Love Is Colder Than Death – Oxeia
    3. Wolfsheim – Kein Zurück
    4. Yeht Mae – Take Him Out Back
    5. Robotiko Rejekto – Robotiko Rejekto

  3. Thirlwell99

Great show, as always, Matt. Maybe next week something by early Loop? Just recently discovered them and my mind was blown.

  4. For future shows:

    1. A Matter of Time – Berlin
    2. The Ordinary Boys – Morrissey
    3. Growing In Green – March Violets
    4. Tora! Tora! Tora! – Depeche Mode

  5. Great show as always Matt!
    Goodnight!

  6. Which versions of “p Machinery” and “It’s obvious” did you play?

  7. Matt,
Thanks for playing Lords of the New Church. It ironic that you played Specimen last week because that was also on my mix tape from the 80’s.

  8. Enjoyed the darkness of hour three!

In honor of what would have been Jeffrey Lee Pierce’s birthday this month (6/27), I’d like to request Sex Beat by The Gun Club for a future show. Thanks!

  9. Pixies – Stormy Weather

  10. Good day Sir Matt of the Dark Wave Clan. Again, you have assembled a top notch – grade A set of music that would cool anyone down when you’re under a heat dome! Some possible suggestions for next time:

Bauhaus – The Man With The X-Ray Eyes
    Gary Numan – M.E.
    The Cult – Coming Down

Stay Frosty….and thanks again as always!!! 。◕‿◕。。◕‿◕。。◕‿◕。

  11. Thanks for playing “Love in Itself.” Best part is I got to hear it live! And today I was on the road with the Chihuahuas from Chicago to KC, so I’ve already listened to the whole show twice. Highlights were: the mixed-up “Fascination Street,” the 12″ “Warrior,” Pigface, The Damned…. Was great to hear 23 Skidoo again — a few months ago, after hearing them here, I ran across a compilation on vinyl and picked it up for cheap. Love “Kundalini,” also ‘I Y” which is the one you played on here…

  12. Hi Matt, I´d like to suggest “Church Of No Return” by the obviously not so much loved Valor-fronted lineup of Christian Death. Thanks a lot.

  13. Song request
    Rational by King Cobb Steelie

  14. Matt…very wonderfully, smoothly done 3hrs of the dark stuff & the 4th right around the corner as well.Ive got some crackers here as well,so take it away my man and Happy 250th.
    SCHNITT ACHT-Subhuman Minds
    KNIFELADDER-Head Of The Serpent
    PORTISHEAD-Machine Gun
    M.

  15. Scorching set Matt. Thoroughly enjoyed this week’s installment and enjoying it again as I type this. Love that Fascination Street extended mix, and totally agree with you about wishing they’d play that arrangement live. Pigface into Skinny Puppy was a face melter. That loungy version of Love in Itself I had never heard before. Keep it up with the DM b-sides. Props to the person who requested Felt. Parade Ground and The The also awesome.

Request for a future communion: “Big-Jesus-Trash-Can” by The Birthday Party.

Have a great week Matt and stay cool darkwavers, cheers!

  16. Thanks for playing Hong Kong Garden, and for the shoutout! Pretty cool to hear. Good song selection for The Cure this week, maybe can play The Hanging Garden, also by them sometime? It’s a great track, but doesn’t get heard very often out there! We’re in a heatwave here, in Ontario. Hope it isn’t too bad in Colorado! Thanks again, Matt! – Calico =^.^=

  17. Another super 3 hour show Matt, have to give it to hour 1, Clan of Xymox, Skeletal Family, extended Cure and Depeche Mode!
    Happy Canada Day
Here are a few Canadiana requests for a future show:

Hey Men – Men Without Hats
    Baby Ran – 54-40
    Stereo – The Watchmen
Flesh Under Skin – National Velvet
Saturdays in Silesia – Rational Youth

  18. Thanks for the Stormtrooper in Drag. Was able to catch up on the last two shows and they were fantastic. Just what I needed.

Thanks for the great music. Have a good week.

  19. Hearing Christian Death this week, reminded me of a song, I used to like quite a bit. Maybe you could add Flowers, by Rozz Williams to an upcoming playlist? It’s so lovely.
