Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (7/20/25)

The Chameleons

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. Hi Matt, great show. Thanks for playing Procession, and closing with Bauhaus! I can rest happy now. :)

    My request:
    Front Line Assembly – Structures

  2. Great call on the Camouflage, Cocteau Twins, and Flesh for Lulu. But Hour 2 did it for me. So much good music.

Not sure if you played this one recently, but if not, would like to ask for The Sound “I Can’t Escape Myself” on a future episode.

Thanks and have a great week.

  3. Incredible show tonight! Since you mentioned The Bear and its soundtrack tonight, it would be grand if Tangerine Dream’s “Diamond Diary” made the way to Dark Wave in the future.

Hope everyone has a great week.

    • Corey from Ohio

Great show. Thanks for getting one of mine in that lineup. Really liking the Shriekback stuff. One I wasn’t familiar with and unfortunately, Apple Music doesn’t have a lot of their 80s stuff.

  4. Hi, long time listener, long time since poster. But like, what if we heard:

Lords of Acid- Rough Sex (The All Night Grinder Mix)

Let me tell ya, its a banger. Missed ya’ll. Thank you for doing the Lord’s work.

  5. For future shows:
    1. Peppermint Pig – Cocteau Twins
    2. Oscillate Wildly – the Smiths
    3. The Loop – Morrissey
    4. A Passage In Time – Dead Can Dance
    5. Don’t Fall – the Chameleons
    6. Punish Me With Kisses – the Glove
    7. Lunar Camel – Siouxsie + the Banshees
    8. Silent Hedges – Bauhaus

    10. Airwaves – Kraftwerk

  6. New Model Army – Running

  7. Hello, I’ve been listening for a while and I love this show. A future request that I would like to hear is “Tragedy” by Christian Death. Keep doing what you’re doing!

  8. excellent show last night!

  9. My goodness what a show last night! Why oh why did Pailhead only record six tracks?! I want more. Great selection from The Birthday Party. And that second hour, wow, two of the most underrated American post punk bands ever with Abecedarians and For Against. Thank you for continuing to play Nitzer Ebb each week, Mr McCarthy gone way too soon. And one last comment: that was one of the heaviest industrial blocks ever to close out hour 3, and then Bauhaus! So damn good.

I’m not sure if this request is doable for a future communion as I believe the track is close to 10 mins; but that Bunnymen peel session cut reminded me of this Japanese import CD I had when I was a kid (I think I loaned it to a buddy and he never gave it back) that has this epic live version of Do It Clean. I think the CD was called New, live and rare? or something like that. Anyway, if you are able to dig that up I will be most grateful and forgive whoever it was that never gave me back that CD.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  10. Jonathan Leon

  16. “ SUPERNAUT” by 1000 HOMO DJS

    FOR OZZY !!!!!!!!!! R.I.P

  17. Great set, Matt. I haven’t heard X in a while and that song was one of my favorites.

For some reason, this song popped into my head and I can’t stop humming it. I also haven’t heard it in ages and would love to hear it: Fascists Eat Donuts by the Pop-O-Pies.

    Thank you!

  18. Awesome show this week! Thanks for playing Pigface. And you are right about Deliverance by The Mission: that is an all-timer!!! Volume was cranked way up for that one! Keep up the great work as always!

  20. Hey Matt!

Thanks for playing stuff from Tinderbox! And adding that Sol Invictus track was really nice! Great stuff as per usual on Sundays – well done Sir! :)

Here’s a new request for your next Industrial block featuring early 90’s releases:

    Hilt // Crazy For You

    Cheers!

  21. Man, great playlist this week!! I am listening over and over. I know you are going to get a lot of Ozzy requests, but I would humbly suggest Ministry’s Paranoid – your respect for cover songs noted of course!

  22. It’s my birthday next week I was thinking maybe you could play “Spin 1/2” by Th’ Faith Healers.
I first heard them on Darkwave many years ago and have loved them ever since. This is probably my favorite track of theirs. It’s a bit long, but it’s worthy of its track length. Thank you so much for the quality programming
    Sincerely Audrey.

  23. Great tracks by The Chameleons, Shriekback, Lowlife, Cure, For Against and PIL. If you could play some Janes Addiction on a future show that would be great. Maybe, “Kettle Whistle (Live)”, “Ocean Size (Demo)”, “ Three Days (Live)”, or anything off of Kettle Whistle or The Cabinet Of Curiosities.

  24. Black Sabbath-Planet Caravan

  25. Been traveling this week so a bit late to comment…So happy we can stream the show. Thanks for playing my request for The Smiths – much appreciated. And a few highlights include X, Love and Rockets, Pailhead, Flesh for Lulu, The Mission…

A request for an upcoming show:
    Patti Smith “ask the angels”

Thanks! And RIP Ozzy, The Prince of Darkness.

  26. Mikal Wentz

Great show as always. Please play Cocteau Twins- Athol-Brose
And Curve -Want More Need Less
    Thanks!

  27. Salutations, Matt!

    The Chameleons — Perfume Garden

Thank you so much! Also, Ozzy forever!!!

    — Dylan

  28. Siiiii – Over (1983-1985) Apple Music
The Stranglers – Princess of the Streets (1977) Apple Music + Qobuz

  29. hello matt!!! thank you so very much for all you do!!!! first-time requester; but, i would say i feel i’m a ~pretty~ loyal listener here… even before you became our gracious “host with the most!” (believe my sat. radio plan came with a new car in jan. 2010; therefore, maybe i have listened to just about every episode since the show’s inception!?)

ANYWAY… while i was getting ready this morning — you know; standing in the shower, thinking — a song popped into my head. Haven’t heard it in many years; so, i thought: if Matt likes it, it just might be a perfect tune to play tomorrow/the last sunday of july:

    Chris Connelly – July

(and: for my fellow listeners: i saw him play it live during that album (phenobarb bambalam) tour on, i believe, a hot, sticky summer day at a club in buffalo, n.y. — any other listeners at that show? can you remember the club name/the date of show/the other band(s) on the bill? i seem to remember that the club projected videos on multiple walls for their general-club-vibe-lighting-effects.)

    thanks all!

  30. seems Chris Connelly – July last played on DW in july 2021; which is probably the last time i heard it! so, if it is way too soon for a replay; please save for a future year! :)

as for the buffalo tour stop question; supposedly there is a tour itinerary in this bundle — anyone have it that can provide the tour schedule info?:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/116498480539

    thanks again all!!!

  31. Thank Matt, an amazing show on Sunday night! Hour Two was phenomenal. The series of Front 242, Cabaret Voltaire, Front Line Assembly, Nitzer Ebb was brilliant!

I was fortunate enough to see Nitzer Ebb in Amsterdam at the Paradiso in 1989. Was energetic and fantastic in only the Nitzer Ebb was! RIP Douglas McCarthy.

Love the Frank Tovey aka Fad Gadget Shave song. I heard he would do a performance art on stage and shave himself. Never got to see him.

How about some songs by The Slits? Thank you for the wonderful show and keeping this music alive!
