For this week’s “120 Minutes” Rewind, we present a somewhat odd pairing: Downtown Julie Brown — better known for hosting “Club MTV” than her occasional Sunday night stints — running through a “120 Minutes X-Ray” segment on U.K. post-punk act The Lucy Show on the Jan. 25, 1987, episode.

This week’s new releases include ‘Please Please Please: A Tribute to The Smiths,’ The Lucy Show’s rarities comp ‘Remembrances,’ a DVD and Blu-ray reissue of X’s ‘The Unheard Music,’ a 5LP Gary Numan vinyl box set and a new 2CD best-of from The Lemonheads.

This month’s mixtape includes new and previously unreleased music from Paul Weller, Peter Murphy, The Lucy Show and Hussey-Regan, featuring The Mission’s Wayne Hussey — plus some older favorites by the likes of The Wild Swans, Magazine, The Stone Roses, Orange Juice, Revenge and The Alarm.

This week’s round-up of Slicing Up Eyeballs headlines includes posts about Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore and Vince Clarke, The Lucy Show, Simple Minds, Paul Weller, Throwing Muses, Elvis Costello and OMD, plus the opening of voting in the 2011 installment of the Slicing Up Eyeballs Readers Poll.

A long-planned rarities compilation from London post-punk outfit The Lucy Show — ‘Remembrances’ — finally will be released next month, collecting 17 tracks that never have been released on CD, including the band’s 1983 debut single, alternates takes and five demos of tracks that appeared on 1985’s ‘…undone.’
