Cocteau Twins’ Robin Guthrie, Ride’s Mark Gardener to release ‘Universal Road’ in March

Sure, he’s got that Ride reunion to deal with, but that’s not the only thing on Mark Gardener’s plate these days: The frontman for the reunited shoegaze legends announced that his long-in-the-works album with Cocteau Twins guitarist Robin Guthrie is titled Universal Road and finally will see the light of day this March.

Cocteau Twins’ Robin Guthrie and Ride’s Mark Gardener to release album in September

Cocteau Twins guitarist Robin Guthrie and Ride frontman Mark Gardener have completed their long-in-the-works album together — a collaboration they debuted with their 2012 single “The Places We Go” — and will release the record worldwide this September, Gardener announced this week.

This week sees the release of the first new Nine Inch Nails album in five years (‘Hesitation Marks’), the deluxe vinyl ‘Last Splash’ reissue box set from The Breeders, a pair of ‘Original Album Series’ box sets from Happy Mondays and Ride, plus the bleated U.S. release of the first Dexys album in nearly 30 years.

Former Ride frontman Mark Gardener has teamed up with Cocteau Twins co-founder Robin Guthrie to record a new single called ‘The Places We Go’ that will be released digitally next week by Guthrie’s label Soleil Après Minuit ‘via all good download services.’ The track goes on sale July 9.
