We’ve seen some fairly good webcast footage this summer of the Peter Hook-less New Order playing at various European festivals, but this is far and away the best live film to emerge of the reunited band’s summer touring: a 44-minute reel of footage from the band’s June 21 performance at Berlin’s Tempodrom.
The U.K. arm of Rhino Records this week uploaded a series of classic New Order videos to the label’s YouTube channel, giving us the perfect excuse to dedicate this installment of Vintage Video to one of our favorite clips: the band’s 1993 “Baywatch”-themed performance of “Regret,” filmed for “Top of the Pops.”

Peter Hook will follow up his 2009 memoir ‘The Hacienda: How Not to Run a Club’ this fall with a new book that purports to tell ‘the definitive story of Joy Division’ by offering a behind-the-scenes look into the band’s ‘friendships and fall-outs, their rehearsals and recording sessions,’ as well as the suicide of Ian Curtis and its aftermath.
The now Hooky-less incarnation of New Order performed at 12-song set at Barcelona’s Sónar 2012 music festival on Saturday, and if you missed the live webcast, here’s a capture — thanks to YouTuber i7yci7cyi — of the full 70-minute show. As you’ll see, the band is sticking to roughly the same setlist since first reuniting last fall.
