The Pixies continue their string of artsy new music videos with the second clip for a track off the band’s second collection of new music released in the past six month. The new video for “Magdalena,” off EP2, is directed by Judy Jacob and stars Nando Messias — along with an egg.

Another month, another mixtape: The Auto Reverse series returns for January, with two fresh 45-minute sides that you can stream via Mixcloud, or download, at least for a limited time, courtesy of the link included below. This month’s tape includes new music from The Mission and the Pixies and plenty of old favorites.

As “Breaking Bad”/”Better Call Saul” star Bob Odenkirk let slip in a tweet last Friday, the reunited Afghan Whigs are indeed releasing a brand-new studio album, with Greg Dulli and Co. announcing today that they are returning to Sub Pop Records to release Do To The Beast, their first album in 16 years.

This week’s new releases include the physical release of Morrissey’s new single on 7-inch and 12-inch vinyl, plus the debut album from Snowbird, the new project featuring the Cocteau Twins’ Simon Raymonde and Massive Attack collaborator Stephanie Dosen.

Tonight’s edition of “Dark Wave” — the Sunday night celebration of the “darker side of classic alternative” on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave — featured music from Clock DVA, Balaam and the Angel, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Lard, Skinny Puppy, Dead Can Dance, Kraftwerk, Asylum Party and more.

It’s hardly a secret that the reunited Afghan Whigs have been recording: The band’s Facebook page has been posting photos of Greg Dulli and Co. in the studio for months now. Still, there’s been no announcement of a new album. Which is why fans are excited about a tweet yesterday from actor/comedian Bob Odenkirk.
