Hunters & Collectors — best-known to American fans for late-’80s modern-rock hits “Back on the Breadline” and “When the River Runs Dry” — will be the subject of a new tribute album next month featuring interpretations of the band’s music by Eddie Vedder and Neil Finn, Paul Kelly, The Living End, The Avalanches and more.

We’re still more than a month out from the release of The Mission’s The Brightest Light, but the band this week premiered the first full track off the record: “Drag,” a song Wayne Hussey describes as a “throwaway” blues rocker that was so fun to play that he ended up finding a place or it on the album.

Tears For Fears’ landmark debut album The Hurting is due for a 30th anniversary reissue later this year, and now comes the details: The deluxe four-disc box set will include the original album, a disc of remixes and B-sides, a collection of BBC radio sessions and the long-out-of-print “In My Mind’s Eye” concert film on DVD.

Gary Numan this week debuted the first single off his long-in-the-works album Splinter — his first studio album in seven years, which has now received an added parenthetical (Songs From a Broken Mind) to its title — in advance of his upcoming U.S tour and dates with Nine Inch Nails.

Kitchens of Distinction today revealed the title (Folly), artwork and tracklist of its first new studio album in 19 years — the band ‘s fifth overall and first since 1994′s Cowboys and Aliens — which is due out Sept. 30 and is now available for pre-order from 3 Loop Music in a variety of CD, LP and digital packages.

New Model Army returns this fall with its 12th studio album and first in four years, a 14-track set dubbed Between Dog and Wolf on which the band debuts its new bassist and of which bandleader Justin Sullivan declares, “Sonically, this is the best album we’ve ever made, whilst creatively it has opened lots of new doors.”

The Mission this September will release its new studio album The Brightest Light, an 11-song collection that marks the first time original band members Wayne Hussey, Simon Hinkler and Craig Adams have recorded together since the sessions for 1990’s Carved in Sand.
