Hey, it wouldn’t be the Auto Reverse mixtape series if we weren’t a little late, right? So, yeah, March may already be here, but that doesn’t mean we can’t finally post the February installment of this ever-popular run. Which means we’ve go two fresh 45-minute sides of great music for you.

For this month’s installment of the ever-popular Auto Reverse mixtape series, we’ve decided to go with a theme: cover songs. So on the two 45-minute sides posted below for your streaming and/or downloading pleasure, you’ll find cover songs by classic alternative artists and covers of classic alternative artists.

Keeping with our unfortunate tradition of mixtape lateness, this was supposed to have been finished and posted earlier this past week to serve as a nice pre-Halloween collection of goth, post-punk and darker tunes. Oops. Still, here’s October’s entry in the Auto Reverse mixtape series, featuring two 45-minutes of dark fare.

Well, that last mea culpa, back in May, deserves a mea cupla all of its own. But here we are, four months later. And we’ve finally coughed up a new entry in our Auto Reverse mixtape series. But it’s a good one: A tribute to the late, great BBC DJ and tastemaker John Peel.

First: a mea culpa. Yes, the Slicing Up Eyeballs Mixtape Department has fallen down on the job, failing to produce a new entry in the Auto Reverse series since winter wrapped its cruel grip across this land. That dark chasm of silence even prompted one loyal listener to email us: “Why do you hate the mixtapes?”

With just a couple days left in February, we’ve just managed to squeeze in this month’s (belated) installment in the Auto Reverse series: two fresh 45-minute sides that you can stream via Mixcloud, or download, at least for a limited time, courtesy of the link included right here.
