A representative for Kate Bush this morning is shooting down a widely publicized anecdote in The New Yorker that alleges the Coachella festival turned down a chance to host the stage-shy singer’s first-ever U.S. concert because “no one is going to understand it.”

The Cold Waves festival — billed as “a celebration of Chicago’s relationship with industrial music” — returns for a sixth year this fall with a 3-day lineup headlined by Front 242, KMFDM and Stabbing Westward, organizers announced this week. The event is slated for Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 1 at Chicago’s Metro and Smart Bar.
Six years after the breakup of R.E.M., frontman Michael Stipe will debut his first-ever solo composition — a score made using Moog synthesizer gear — as part of an exclusive audiovisual installation he’s creating for Moogfest in Durham, N.C., this May. Tickets for Moogfest are on sale now.
Morrissey has announced his first live dates of 2017, including a pair of U.S. and Mexican festival performances in April and a trio of Texas concerts that were canceled twice late last year after his band’s keyboardist, Gustavo Manzur, fell ill prior to a show in Boulder, Colo.
Morrissey continues to expand his spring touring plans, and is now set to play four exclusive Australian shows in late May at the famed Sydney Opera House as part of Vivid LIVE 2015, the musical component of the 18-day Vivid Sydney festival. Morrissey will perform in Sydney on May 26, 27, 30 and 31.
