Cutting it a bit close this month, but, hey, that’s tradition around here at Slicing Up Eyeballs. Nevertheless, we’re back with the May installment of the ever-popular Auto Reverse mixtape series — and it’s one of our occasional themed installments, no less.
The horrific bombing in Manchester last week that killed 22 young music fans got us thinking about that city’s musical heritage, and the central role those iconic bands — The Smiths, Joy Division, New Order, The Fall, The Stone Roses, etc. — play on this site.
With that in mind, this month’s mix — two 45-minute sides that you can stream via Mixcloud, or download, at a limited time, courtesy of the link below — pays tribute to the sounds of Manchester that so many of us know and love, featuring the aforementioned bands and more, including Buzzcocks, Happy Mondays, A Certain Ratio, The Chameleons, Magazine and more.
