For this month’s installment of the ever-popular Auto Reverse mixtape series, we’ve decided to go with a theme: cover songs. So on the two 45-minute sides posted below for your streaming and/or downloading pleasure, you’ll find cover songs by classic alternative artists, covers of classic alternative artists and some tracks that qualify as both.
The tape, which you can stream via Mixcloud, or download, at least for a limited time, courtesy of the link included below, features cover songs recorded by R.E.M., The Cure, Revolting Cocks, The Sisters of Mercy, This Mortal Coil, Pixies, Depeche Mode, The Afghan Whigs, Morrissey, The Replacements, Primal Scream, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Clan of Xymox and much more.
Check it about below — and enjoy.

The “The Jesus and Mary Chain, “Surfin’ USA”” track is awesome.
So cool to see Grant Lee Phillips on the list. I loved his covers CD, Nineteeneighties.
MIXCLOUD never has worked for me. So I will never get to hear your amazing collection while you use that system.
Thanks for your time
hint to software to convert rar into mp3 or wav? Thanks!

Anything related to the Stone Roses is perfect. May I recommend the Codeine Velvet Club cover of I am the Resurrection for a future mix tape. That is the most original cover of a Roses song I’ve ever heard.
Many thanks for this mix. Many I haven’t heard before. I’m a big fan of covers and there are some real treats here.
The Cure doing D.M. is great!
Awesome tape as always- THANK YOU! FYI- missing “Hello, I Love You” on Side B.
It’s there. It’s just very, very short.
The “Floorboards” track is great, but can’t help but feel Jason Falkner’s version would’ve been better – and even more deliciously obscure :-)
The Replacements cover of The Pixies is absent from the RAR file.
It’s there. But just like the “Hello, I Love You” on Side B, it’s very, very short.
