Hey Matt,
Great show. I never heard that Wire cut before. Loved it. And according to the online XM playlist that tracks which songs are played, Brian Eno’s “Burning Airlines…” was a 1st play for 1st Wave. So thank you for that. Speaking of 1st plays, I also learned they only played the Psych Fur’s “We Love You” for the 1st time ever on Party 360 this past Friday.
We gotta bump that song again. Please play it on a future episode!
Seconded!
Yes! I was happily surprised to hear the Psychedelic Furs “We Love You” on Party 360 too.
Great show Matt !!! And thanks !
Dog-faced Hermans – who knew? I know, now!
Also loved Lead Into Gold and The Sound.
Just, sayin’ , Laughing Song would have been a cozy fit next to Lard’s cover tune.
Love you, stay Dark!
Matt,nice way to set up the Holiday b4 with an awesome 3hours of the DARK STUFF!Enjoy your day & some nuggets your way as follows and of course,ALL THE BEST to you!
D.I.-Richard Hung Himself
FRONT 242-Moldavia
GHOUL-Immigrant Song
M.
Danielle Dax – Cat House
Dead Kennedys – Halloween
Great show again, and I do think one Throbbing Gristle song every seven months or so is enough (one of those bands that I appreciate more than I actually like hearing; I like all their offshoot bands much better…). And thanks for playing my Dog Faced Hermans request too!
New requests for the future:
Nash the Slash – Dance After Curfew
Mark Stewart – Hysteria
Fatima Mansions – 1000%
Where did you hear Dog faced Hermans? Great great stuff!
Not sure where exactly I heard them the first time, but a friend recommended them to me 20+ years ago (because I liked The Fall, and I guess there are some similarities). Listened to their last two albums a lot back then, but only recently got back into them, especially the third album where my request was from.
Totally cool! Sharing is caring.
Revenge – State of Shock -original or remix
Really excellent program this week – a ton of my favorites were played….. especially in the first two hours!!! Too many to name, but I found myself liking the song after the previous song more and more!!! I definitely look forward to this show every Sunday!!!
Some possible suggestions for next time:
The Stranglers – Always the Sun (Sunny Side Up Mix)
B Movie – Nowhere Girl
The Chameleons – View From A Hill
Thanks again as always!!!!! 。◕‿◕。
Hi Matt,
I have a request for the Halloween show that I always knew as music staples for the holiday and played at the clubs.
Ministry- Everyday is Halloween
And/or Bauhaus – Bela Lugosi’s dead
We are already at the halfway point of the month.
Thanks
Excellent show last night! So many great tracks, I was really happy to hear Wire (actually “Wir” I think), Eno, Lead Into Gold, Manufacture, and that Galaxie 500 track was better than I remembered, I’ll have to re-listen to them someday! Plus my lovely cute Camouflage “Kling Klang” request, thank you for that! They sure sound better in their native German than their more common English lyrics.
Since I’m not sure which weekend will be more Halloween-themed, I’ll go with very gothy requests this week in hopes that it lands around the end of October, seems somehow fitting!
Sex Gang Children – Dieche
The Wake – Christine
The Marionettes – Ave Dementia
All three of these are really great but I will always second The Wake, love that band, so underrated.
Hey Matt, excellent show last night. I loved the last half of hour three last night from Camoflauge on through the end.
Holes – Mercury Rev
Yes
Each hour was rocking!
Here’s a request for the future weeks this fall –
Public Image Ltd. – Tie Me To the Length of That
Thanks!
Hey Matt! I absolutely love the dark wave segment! Always psyched when the segment arrives during the night while I work as a delivery driver! It really makes the end of the work week so worth it! Here’s a personal mix-tape you might be inclined to play in one of your future shows. Cheers!
1. Trisomie 21 – “The Last Song”
2. Opera Multi Steel – “Jardin Botanique”
3. La Danza Moderna – “Heaven”
4. Venus In Furs – “In My Velvet Cage”
5. Sad Lovers and Giants – “Sleep (Is For Everyone)”
6. Lung Overcoat – “Sickroom”
7. Death Cult – “Too Young (Riders In The Snow)”
8. Passionnel – “Plans”
9. The Neon Judgement – “Chinese Black”
10. Absolute Body Control – “Is There An Exit?”
Great show
Future request: Swans – Miracle of Love
Awesome set Matt! I wholeheartedly concur with your assessment of the new Bunnymen album really sounding more like a solo Ian album. I thought it was odd that there’s no mention of personnel on the inner record sleeve. Not suprised that Will is only on three tracks. I like the album and the debut single is super solid, just doesn’t quite feel like the Bunnymen. Anyway, thanks for playing my Eno request, sounds like folks dug that one. Hour 1 was awesome and I love that we got Galaxie 500 and Luna in different hours. Not sure the show could kick off better than Kerosene, definitely sets things on fire.
Request for a future communion: ever played any Mojave 3 on the show? How about “Mercy” off their debut album.
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
Hi Matt! Fantastic show this past Sunday! Here are 3 requests for the future:
1. Revolting Cocks – Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?
2. Front 242 – Animal
3. Psychedelic Furs – Here Come Cowboys
Thanks so much!
Suggestion for next week – Gene Loves Jezebel – Problems
Hey Matt, thanks for all the fantastic shows. May I request The Bolshoi – I’m Depressed (we all die) ?
It’s a great b side to TV Man.
Thanks Matt
Great show as always, I was wondering of I could request a Halloween song?
I always wanted to hear Soft Cell’s “Martin”.
I remember hearing it when I was listening to “Keychains and Snowstorms”, and this song really stuck out for me.
It’s synth pop mixed with dark, unsettling storytelling of Martin, a young man who believes he’s the undead, and Soft Cell nails the disturbing music that pretty much could be in the soundtrack.
The distorted synth with moaning of Marc makes this song a Hallowe’en favorite of mine.
Thanks for playing most of my requests, and it would be great if you play this one as well.
Thanks!
Another fantastic 3 hour show Matt, thank you so much!
A lovely B side request for Zap City from The Cult Lil’ Devil single. A bit of a later entry for Halloween and maybe even a bit of a stretch. However it was on the Buffy the Vampire soundtrack.
A regional request: “Shock” by The Hunger. They’re from Houston and I have no idea about how well-known they were beyond the local scene.
I’m surprised that Dog Faced Hermans are new to many but glad they’ve found some new listeners!
Additional requests:
“Lucifer’s Friend” – UK Vision
“Isolation” – Dessau
“Ostia” – Coil
And in honor of the reissue of GOLD IS THE METAL at the end of the month, another Coil track, “The First Five Minutes After Violent Death”
The Hunger, yes! I like “Shock” although I have a mild preference for “Leave Me Alone” since it makes me smile. I had The Hunger album in the 90s in Southern California, but that may have been due to a friend who had moved from Texas, so I’m not sure if they truly were only regionally-known or not!
Stephen Jones, a former member of cult Australian electronic group Severed Heads, has died aged 75.
A statement was posted to his Facebook last Friday, October 9th, claiming that he died from injuries after being assaulted three days earlier. “Stephen was viciously assaulted outside his studio on Tuesday,” the post read. “After loving visits from friends over the course of the day, Stephen died peacefully on Thursday afternoon. Stephen left this world with brother Ian and partner Wendy holding his hands. He was surrounded by friends.”
Severed Heads – Dead Eyes Opened (1983)
https://severedheads.bandcamp.com/album/dead-eyes-opened
Requests-
Daisy Chainsaw – Love your money or Dog with sharper teeth. (Also had a record store in Deep Ellum in Dallas and we did an instore with Daisy and it was chaotic and beautiful. We filled the store with daisy’s and fake blood.
Th’ Faith Healers – Don’t Jones Me
Silverfish – Hips, Tits, Lips, Power
And, you could do a segment of Texas industrial artists (all late 80’s/early 90’s) –
Decadent Dub Team – Six Gun
Steel Porn Rhino – Superball Tojo or Sandman
MC 900Ft Jesus – I’m going straight to Heaven
Lesson Seven – Above (was support for NIN in 1990 and Skinny Puppy Vivi tour)
Skatenigs – Beers, Steers, & Queers (original version) or Chemical Imbalance
Tanz Waffen – Big Strong Man or Subversion
Mark of Kane – Heavy Cross
Evil Mothers – Bad Blood Flows
More current artists –
Curse Mackey (pigface, evil mothers) – Vertigo ego
Sine – Dark Matters
The Hunger – Warm Leatherette
Rigor Mortis and Sensoria in one set???
~~~swoooooon~~~
Thanks for another great show, Mr. Matt
Great show!
For Spooky Season, could you play The Fall-Spectre vs Rector?
I can’t decide which dark version of Echo Beach I like more, Martha and the Muffins 30th anniversary version or Van Der Kill’s cover. I think I’ll request Van Der Kill just to give them some much deserved play time. Thanks
Thank you for playing my all-time favorite Depeche Mode song!
Great show, turned it up on that Ministry remix which I now want on vinyl! How about “Cold Life Dub” ? Great bass. Also sorry about last week’s letter — I was in a reverie! Thanks!
absolutely brilliant show Matt, loved every second of it; several great surprises (like Nick Cave covering Neil Young) but the standout was ‘A Solution’ by CCP ~ hadn’t heard this obscure track before, just a banger! cheers, B
