And even more, you played my actual request, Attrition’s Fusillade, that’s always been probably my favorite song of theirs.

Honestly, my comment’s already too long, but this was one of the best shows in months, really excellent choices and so much great music, too many to comment on!

  4. Yeah, that really was one of the best shows this year, well done! So many highlights; The Tear Garden classic (who were really great live, despite Edward’s laryngitis), Attrition, Nitzer Ebb’s really early song, plus the two songs/bands I didn’t know (The Product & The Arms of Someone New).

  7. Just grabbed the new Bunnymen record and I really like it !
Can you play Brussels is Haunted from the new album? I feel it has that classic 80’s Bunnymen sound …. If you can Matt

    Thanks
    Constantine

  8. Please continue curating your own show. It is fantastic.

    • I agree with you on the long list format of making requests being excessive. However, many great songs that appear on the show have been the result of requests so I hope listeners do continue to make some inspired ones within reason.

  9. Great to hear some Diamanda Galas on the show!

  10. Killer show last night! I was spinning the Bunnymen’s self-titled album while making dinner before the show and I thought, ‘need to request one of those live covers off the Bedbugs and Ballyhoo 12″ single’ and lo and behold you play Friction. I swear you must be a wizard Matt. Thanks for playing my Bad Seeds request, love that one, my wife does not, haha. That first hour gets the slight nod but a L&R track from Lift followed by extended Fly on the Windscreen, my goodness. You made some folks very happy playing that long Tear Garden cut, great stuff.

Request for a future communion: “Burning Airlines Give You So Much More” by Brian Eno.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

    • Nice Nick Cave/Bad Seeds request…that one had psyched while energized while driving in search of a coffee! BTW left you a comment or attempted to on last week’s playlist, about velocity girl and slide away etc. I’m trying to hit the board earlier than my usual end of the week straggle in.

      • Hey Dave! I just went back and looked at your comment from last week. Good to know about Velocity Girl. If they’d played any west coast dates on that small sort of a reunion tour I too would have seen them. Alas, never did see them back in the 90s. The newly remastered vinyl stuff that Archie in the band kinda spearheaded is really good. Finally got a worthy mix of Copacetic, thankfully.

Great calls on Kracked and Sludgfeast. Anything on you’re living all over me really would work I think, that album is a masterpiece. Pond Song or The Post off Bug might fit too. Even Bulbs of Passion off the first album. We shall see if Matt plays something, I’ll leave it to the maestro!

Yeah, Slide Away last year far exceeded my expectations. Every single band was on point including the ones early on the bill that I knew nothing about. I keep checking for an announcement on the 27 lineup but nothing yet…..

        • It is just almost exactly a year ago since news broke about last year’s lineup, isn’t it? Will keep eyes peeled for news! I also had a great time. WarMachine and She’s Green were great new bands. The Swirlies totally knocked my socks off and Chapterhouse was great to experience. tbh my interest (and energy) began to fade after that as Nothing and Hum played.

          • I wish She’s Green had played in LA but we got Ovlolv in that slot and they were really good too. I was super impressed by Terraplana from Brazil. And I did enjoy Nothing but really loved Hum. I was never all that into them back in the 90s but their ‘surprise’ album from 2020, Inlet, is fantastic. Fingers crossed we get an announcement in the next week or so!

  11. And a good day to you Matt! I enjoyed the crap out of this week’s installment – especially the first two hours! Two solid thumbs up!!! Some possible suggestions for next time:

Concrete Blonde – Darkening Of The Light
    Depeche Mode – Little 15
Gary Numan – When The World Comes Apart

Thank you for keeping us Dark Wave minions fed with great music every week. It’s appreciated. 。◕‿◕。

  12. The Cramps – Aloha From Hell

  13. Also long but good are the cure – carnage visors. Ministry – So What (live). Lard – I am your clock. Those 3 would make allots a whole hour of the show.

  14. Thank you for playing a track by, in your own words, “the mighty Flipper!”

Daisy Chain 4 Satan – hot as hell!

Some night, please, Laughing Song by the Residents.

  15. Hey Matt, great show last night. I liked that long track by Tear Garden.

  16. Shout outs to Matt and Brian for the “Pump Up The Volume” soundtrack request

  17. Matt, nice smooth eerie Darkness this week, definitely was feeling it & a thanx for the NitzEbb if you will. As such,I got some more to bring to the table,so away I go & like always ALL THE BEST to you.
    MODERN ENGLISH-Drowning Man
    FRONT 242-Moldavia
    GHOUL-Immigrant Song
    M.

  18. Here’s something obscure: 1000 Knives – Yellow Magic Orchestra from the BGM album (actually anything on that album sounds crazy).

  19. Song Request
    Rational by King Cobb Steelie

  20. Great playlist this week! Tear Garden, The Product and The Arms of Someone New were all new to me. Would love to hear more. Looked them up, seems The Arms of Someone New have another reissue of their Love Power & Justice album which seems pretty cool, less dark more rhythmic, or maybe less Joy Division more New Orrder might be another way to put it. One of them went on to be in Area too. Would also love to hear some Sad Lovers & Giants in a future show too. Thanks for putting this show together every week!

  21. Slight stretch (not exactly First Wave) but 16 Horsepower is very goth. And they cover Joy Division.

  22. Enjoyed the deep cuts!

Here’s a request for a possible shoegaze block in the near future –

    Swervedriver – Laze It Up

    Thanks!

  23. Luna – Bonnie and Clyde ( Bonnie Parker version)

    • An amazing track! shout out to the Irma Vet soundtrack where I first heard it. That soundtrack also featured Sonic Youth’s Tunic (Song For Karen) in case we are getting a theme going…. : }

  24. If you can find it, I’d like to request “Sin of Parade” by Umbrella Brigade. I really liked this song/album, but it was a small independent release. Thanks Matt!

  25. Hey Matt,

Loved this week’s show. It was full of surprises, always great when that happens. There was so much glorious chaotic noise including that Nick Cave selection and Diamanda Galas and Flipper. The James Chance and the Contortionist skronk totally knocked me out. Just loved it. Was also very much into the unearthing of The Product and The Arms of Someone New. And Jeffrey Lee Pierce, also someone I hadn’t heard before. It’s all got me somehow looking forward to hearing some stuff from the Dave Thomas/Pere Ubu/Dead Boys realm again.

    Have a great week!

  26. U Škripcu – Samuraj (1982) Apple + Qobuz

    Fuck Cancer

  27. I would like to hear Godflesh-“Feral Colony” from their new album Decay.
    Thanks!

  28. I would like to hear Feral Colony by Godflesh, from their new album Decay

  29. Das Ich Destillat vnv nation remix
    For Bruno … RIP
