Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (3/1/26)

Danielle Dax

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  3. Hey Matt! Excellent show tonight! I loved the tracks by Lead into Gold, and The Sound tonight.

  4. Did not expect the voice of Leonard Cohen to boom thru my car speakers during DW, but man, was it a welcome surprise! Perhaps “Waiting for a Miracle” or the live album cut of “Dance Me to the End of Love” for a future ep?

Great show tonight. I think you managed to cover every nook and cranny of the subgenre.

Wishing everyone reading this an awesome week ahead!

  5. Hey Matt, thanks for playing my Cure request! I love that I am still discovering new songs and bands VIA this show, New Dark Age is an amazing song

  6. Thanks Matt. Playing my Wall of Voodoo request made me feel part of the show this week. Appreciate every show. Appreciate you.

  7. UK Decay – Shattered

  8. Great stuff – the Lead into Gold kickoff was fantastic and it flowed really well from there.

I was reminded recently of Ethyl Meatplow’s “Close to You” cover… it’s truly unhinged… so I thought I’d request it for a future episode!

    Thanks Matt!

  11. Hi Matt!!! Exceptional show this week really loved every hour! Thank you for my DM request – I honestly love every song on that album…and it was even better live! Was nice to hear Throwing Muses, The Cure, L&R, Modern English and Wire. It’s finally March and I’m ecstatic lol! Getting spring fever and have some possible suggestions for next time:

The Stone Roses – I Wanna Be Adored
    Sonic Youth – 100%
PJ Harvey – Rid Of Me

    Thanks again as always!!!! 。◕‿◕。

  12. Loved last week’s Siouxsie and Wolfgang Press tracks – I always dig your post-punk forays into acid house/ rave! In that vein, how about:
WIR – So and Slow it Grows, or Single Gun Theory – From a Million Miles

  13. Great dark balance in each hour!

With 3/14 being the anniversary of Viva Hate, I’d like to request the opening track, Alsatian Cousin, off of Morrissey’s first solo album.

    Thanks!

  14. Ringing in March most decidedly dark, great show. Really nice to hear “Heartland” close the show, thank you for that Matt. Was also lovely to hear “Saudade” in the first hour, I’ve always thought that to be a perfect album closer on Seventh Dream. Play Dead, Wire, Lorry, Sound, Gun Club and Comsat Angels were also great to hear. Bummed I will have to miss the Cabaret Votaire show in SF in May, already have tix for the Bunnymen that night. Way to go promoter!

Request for the next time you get a little shoegaze itch that needs scratching: “Jack” by Moose.

    Have a great week, cheers!
