Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (10/19/25)

The Cramps

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  5. Hey Matt

Wow! – amazing that we are now at 40 years (!) since the auspicious release of Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven! Thanks so much for marking the week! And how lucky we all are that we *STILL* get to hear new music from Daniel Ash & friends ….. even four decades later!! Thanks for always keeping us informed … and also playing the new music!

Which reminds me to *ALSO* thank you for turning me onto Low Sunday the other week !! …. somehow, someway that band was completely new to me, but AWESOME…. so I bought it (30th anniversary remaster of “Ghost Machine”) on Bandcamp Friday recently and I am LOVING every minute of it !! Incredible… my fave tracks are probably “For A Moment”, and also the one you played – “Spider’s Web” – these are so friggin’ good.

    THANKS MATT! :)

    Cheers!

  6. Matt, the man,the myth, the Dark Wave Legend!Wow wow, great compilation of the Dark Stuff & big thanx for the play.Cant wait for nxt weeks Halloween fare. I did request 2 questionable but ill see what you think As always, all the Dark best to you & here we go:
    SAMHAIN-Halloween 2
    TYPE O NEGATIVE-Black no.1
    MINISTRY-Halloween
    BAUHAUS-Bela Lugosi is dead
    SUICIDE-Franky Tear Drop
    M.

  7. Nick Cave – Where Do We Go Now But Nowhere

  8. Good day Matt! An absolutely stellar set list (I’ve only got through the first hour so far). Definitely a favorite for me this year!! Thank you for my SP cover and the always awesome Goo Goo Muck!!! It’s definitely changed into Fall here in the Buffalo area…a definite chill is on the air. I thought I’d request some songs that are perfect indoors with a nice cup of tea!

Gary Numan – Are Friends Electric? — AllSaints Basement Sessions — I stumbled upon this version on accident, but it’s honestly the best version of it I’ve ever heard!!!)
The Mighty Lemon Drops — Inside Out
    Massive Attack — Teardrop

    Thanks again as always!!! 。◕‿◕。

  9. Digging the industrial sets lately – “Suicide Jag” by Chemlab was the theme song of the old Much Music indie show on TV back in the day! Agree.with Murdoch on some Type O Negative. Thanks.

  10. Constantine

My god, what an incredible 3 hours of Darkwave !!!! One of the best setlists ever — since I’ve been listening anyway…

  11. Such a great communion last night! I loved hearing “Nemisis”. I’m super excited for the special next week. I was hoping I could maybe hear “Town Meeting Song” the cover by The Polyphonic Spree! It’s a spooky song that welcomes the holidays, and my family always plays it at the end of Halloween night. It’s not traditionally what would be heard on dark wave but I couldn’t think of a better place to hear it!

  12. Always love the show … it’s a great way to prep (be it paint or rest) in anticipation of a long work week ahead.

I’d love to hear L’Aulne et al Mort by Collection d’Arnell-Andrea at some point in the show. It would pop up in Bay Area goth-industrial clubs in the late 90s / early 00s periodically. Mostly I’m curious how you’d wrap in and out of it … perhaps something 4AD, even better if it could be Dead Can Dance (like Black Sun).

    Cheers & Thanks!

  13. Hey Matt! That was an excellent show last night! I am looking forward to the Halloween Extravaganza episode!

  14. ~thedustcollector

week after week, year after year of excellent musical curation.

  15. Great lead up to the Halloween Extravaganza!

    Here’s a request going into November –

Crime and the City Solution – Six Bells Chime

    Thanks

  16. Yes! And I bought both lp’s in October’85 thanks to WCSB and college radio for whom I owe everything.

    Great damn Show!!!!!

  17. The show never ceases to disappoint! It really is a pleasure having the show to look forward to every Sunday evening and then being able to replay all week. I’ve got a second listen to hour 2 on right now and really digging the new Chameleons track, will definitely be picking up their new album. Glad to hear the show was awesome. I had a conflict when they played SF and missed it but thankfully saw them when they came around with The Mission and Theatre of Hate awhile back. Thanks for playing my House of Love request, their first album is so dang good. Fingers crossed they reschedule that canceled tour from a year or so ago.

Here’s an obscure-ish request, possibly for a future shoegaze block but I don’t necessarily consider this band shoegaze: “My Dreaming Hill” by Flying Saucer Attack.

Really looking forward to the Halloween extravaganza. Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  18. A short blast: “Never Come Back” by Kas Product

  19. Hey there, I really dig your playlists … the 80s dark wave and post-punk classics + some industrial and ebm tracks … maybe you’ll like this relatively new track of mine crossing some these genres?
    All the best!
    presence merely memories – F90.0

  20. Matt: Awesome as ever! A nice surprise to hear “I Sometimes …” by Depeche! Also, thanks for “Container Love” the other week. If the Halloween list hasn’t been finalized, I’d like to request “Party of the First” by Bauhaus. Thank you!!

  21. Hey Matt, I know it’s probably too late for a request for the Halloween show. But I figured I would request it anyway. If you can find any room for it I would be so happy to hear
    “Spooky Vibes” by Blind Mr.Jones
    Thank You !

  22. Great stuff. Think you can play Missouri- No One’s Ark?

  23. Did Wire, Concrete Blonde, The Cramps, or Shreikback ever put out a bad song? Those were definitely the highlights for me. Can’t call a single hour this week.

Thanks for the great music. Will be listening all week long. Have a good one.

  24. This was a great episode. Tones on Tail, Wire, Shriekback, PIL — and some of my favorite tracks. That new Chameleons was pretty awesome, too.

  25. You spoil us week after week with the finest mix of dark tunes. Thank you kindly for playing my Bowie request – much appreciated. A few of my highlights include Love and Rockets, Bauhaus, Jane’s Addiction, Kraftwerk, Concrete Blonde…And of course I’m looking forward to the Halloween show!

A request for an upcoming show:
    X “Hungry Wolf”

    Thank you!

  26. The Legendary Pink Dots – Tower Four (1984) Apple Music + Qobuz
