Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (10/12/25)

Ministry via Sire Records

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  2. Hi Matt, that industrial hour was fantastic!

    My request:
    Front Line Assembly – Threshold

    Goodnight everyone!

  3. Not sure if it’s ever been recorded, but I saw Love and Rockets on the Sweet FA tour and they covered “Tomorrow Never Knows” by the Beatles. If you can find it, I’d love to hear it again.

If you can’t find that, I’d settle for “Anarchy” by KMFDM.

  4. Dang, what a setlist. Coil and Test Dept. were awesome. As was everything else. Thanks for doing the Lord’s work, Matt, heh.

  5. Aural Sculpture, DAF, Porcupine, too name a few, I can’t wait to dive into this show!
Speaking of great covers ala REVCO, a once Bernard Sumner produced artist does an excellent version of New Orders Atmosphere, Paul Haig.
It would sound great on your show

Thank you for the Shows Matt. Never Stop!

  6. Love the communion tonight Matt! I’d love to hear Acid rain or Yr Bod Is Nothing by Model/Actriz and Boy Harsher respectively!

  7. The Church – Under the Milky Way

  8. Great as always!

Future request: The Sisters of Mercy – Fix

  9. Hey Matt! great episode last night! Hour two was the best.

  10. Wowza Matt…..a whole hour devoted to Industrial?! Hells ya!! Super awesome!! ʘ‿ʘ Speaking of ….. I went to see The Cult on the opening night of their current tour….I highly suggest you attend if in your fair city.. Ian’s voice is in fine form – he was all over the stage! They played old and new Cult alike, but my favorite was Edie. I did not know he lived in Hamilton Ontario for a time — in my backyard practically (I live right near the border). He mentioned during the show he was going to see his dad’s grave after. It was a bit emotional at that moment for us in the crowd (especially those of us who have lost our own dads).

I am going to see My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult on November 2nd in Buffalo so I’d like to request their brilliant song from The Crow — After The Flesh

    Thanks again as always!! 。◕‿◕。

    • Second the TKK request! Have fun at the show Tina. I saw them open for Ministry back in June and they were awesome. I’ll be on the lookout for The Cult if they come to the Bay.

  11. Hey Matt!

Definitely enjoyed the full-hour of Industrial tracks! Super cool… and thanks for playing ‘Bound for Hell’ by Love and Rockets! Just the thing to get us into a somewhat spooky mood….

Speaking of that! New request for the (eventual) Halloween show! –> Hula // Ghost Rattle

    Cheers!

  12. Lot to love this week. Last four songs of Hour 1. Adam Ant, “Heaven or Las Vegas”, Big Black, and He said in Hour 3. But it was definitely Hour 2 this week. Thanks for the Clock DVA.

If it’s not too late to request for Halloween, I’d like to request Click Click “Yes”. It’s the only time of year a song about a serial killer is at all approrpriate after all.

Thanks for the great music. Have a good week.

    • Matt?!Good idea?!IT WAS A TREMENDOUS IDEA ONE HOUR OF INDUSTRIAL,my ears cried a tear And thanx for the request play, that was super!I can’t wait to hear more and what ya got instore! Here are just a few bits & bobs to bring,as always All The Best!
      JOY DIVISION-Candidate
      MINISTRY-Faith Collapsing
MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL CULT-Blue Buddah
      M.

  13. Damn, too late for the next show; anyway, would like to hear “Once In A Lifetime” by Wolfsheim. Thanks a lot!

  14. Best industrial hour ever!

My request this week is Ten Dollar Bill by Cop Shoot Cop.

  15. What a great industrial hour! Thanks for playing my DAF request (although at this point in their career more industrial adjacent).

  16. Grauzone- Film 2

  17. Great choices this week!

  18. Awesome show this week! Hour one was so on point, thanks for playing The Fall request amongst so many other fave bands. I’d never heard that Christian Death cover of the Velvets before, very cool. The hour of Industrial madness was ear splitting goodness, great idea. I remember a while back you did a shoegaze hour. I like throwing those hour long blocks in the hopper every so often, really fun. Hour 3 could easily be a signature darkwave mix album, so many great cuts. And as per usual, we can never ever have too much Big Black.

Request for a future communion: how about something Big Black adjacent also from the windy city, “Gear” by Naked Raygun.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  19. Excellent show as always Matt! Just remembered a great one of you can play it…CCCAntt You See by Vicious Pink

  20. Head of David ‘Human Feel’, or earlier track.

  21. Great stuff this week!

  22. Lots to love in this dark communion. The hour long block of industrial was fun. Like Nathan, I recall and enjoyed the extended shoe gaze block from awhile ago. I welcome future deep dives…

No request this time around. Just a quick note to say thanks for serving an excellent show week after week.

  23. Hi Matt
With that time of year again I have some great “must have”songs for Halloween.

    Bauhaus – Bela Lugosi’s Dead
Ministry – Every Day is Halloween
    Thanks!!!

  24. Robert Sobon

This just may have been your best episode ever. Hearing both Test Dept and Manufacture took me back to the halcyon days of my youth. Thank you for being you.

  25. I’m guessing there’s no show 10/19?

  26. Such a great communion last night! I loved hearing “Nemisis”. I’m super excited for the special next week. I was hoping I could maybe hear “Town Meeting Song” the cover by The Polyphonic Spree! It’s a spooky song that welcomes the holidays, and my family always plays it at the end of Halloween night. It’s not traditionally what would be heard on dark wave but I couldn’t think of a better place to hear it!

  27. I loved that industrial block. God bless you for playing “The Anal Staircase.” It took a while, but I absolutely love that song. Also I might owe you a thanks for playing a Leonard Cohen cover a few weeks back? I was hoping for “Who By Fire?” but I will take that Mary Chain “Tower of Song” any day!

  28. Matt you’re a genius! Thank you for the hour of industrial, made my ears very happy. Keep the dark and gothic industrial music alive. For those who want to learn more about the history of industrial music there is a book available on Amazon, I haven’t read it yet, but it’s on my list:

Assimilate: A Critical History of Industrial Music
    by S. Alexander Reed (Paperback)

Loved the Bauhaus Kick in the Eye, brings me back. And Gary Numan I Die, You Die was fantastic. I heard the message in the song is not about death, but about the “le petiti mort” as the French call it and how to get there oneself.
