Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (9/28/25)

999

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

    • Hey Matt, really digging all the old Joy Division tracks lately. In the Shoegaze category, the Slide Away Festival was just announced for next year with the triumphant return of Hum! How about something from their classic album “You’d Prefer An Astronaut”?

  9. I think the Sisters of Mercy song at the end of hour one is actually “1959.”

    Bauhaus – Double Dare

I’d never seen this before. But glad I came across it finally.

    Have a good week.

  15. A stellar show! Always appreciate the shoegaze blocks. A few other highlights – New Order, PIL, Liquid Liquid, Nick Cave…

A request for an upcoming show:
David Bowie “The Hearts Filthy Lesson”

Wishing everyone a great week as we head into October…

  16. Killer set! Thanks for the live Bauhaus, RIP Nico. Shoegaze set was just as awesome as always. If folks haven’t seen the news, Chapterhouse are coming out of retirement to play the Slide Away Festival in NYC, Chicago and LA next May. I also just saw Swervedriver last night in SF and if they swing through your burgh I highly recommend.

Request for a future communion: “Salome” by The House of Love

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  17. Chris Reed Unit – Blow

  18. David M. Lenci

I had no idea Steve Vai was on that PiL track. I played that cassette all summer after I graduated from high school. Enjoyed it in a different way today. Thank you!

I thought of a request that is a B-side and a cover: How about playing the B-side from Echo and the Bunnymen’s Seven Seas 7″?

  19. Good show!

Are we able to make requests this year for the Halloween show, which I assume will be on 10/26? Thanks!

  20. You played Low Sunday Ghost Machine!

  21. Hey Matt I got a request. I like to request a Jane’s Addiction song off that first live album ‘Trip Away.’ Hearing that song you played last Sunday and in light of recent events in music the man is still a visionary. From booking Siouxsue and the Banshees in 1991 to booking my favorite K-pop group TWICE and tying it in with the currently trending K-pop demon hunters film, hate him or love him the man is still a visionary. Despite the problems with his group the man still knows how to curate a festival and influence everybody else from Coachella to ACL. So yes please consider my request but we need more Jane’s Addiction on Dark Wave.

  22. Ethan in Virginia

Hey, Matt! Could we hear the Bauhaus cover of “Severance” ? I think it’s such a good song for October.

  23. I would like to request German Shepherds by Wire. Thank you.

  24. Ride, “In a Different Place” (Nowhere)
