Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (9/21/25)

Dead Can Dance

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  15. Hey Matt!

Awesome work as per usual … love that Controlled Bleeding song (one of my ATFs by them!) and what a sweet John Peel session version of the Pixies! Thanks so much – really enjoy Mr. Santiago’s exceptional riffs on that track!

Sooo, found myself enjoying many festive *lager beers* lately – being nearly Oktober and all ;-) – so thought to request a song from Love and Rockets self-titled album circa ’89. How about one of these coming Sunday Eve’s we all take an SXM Dark Wave trip on that train that’s… “Bound for Hell” !!!

    Cheers!

  16. Great one!

I want to suggest anything from Heaven or Las Vegas by the Cocteau Twins, as it celebrated its 35th(!) anniversary of its release this past week.

    Thanks!

  17. Great show Matt, thanks for playing Gun!

  18. Always good. I have nothing to add. Keep it up, Matt—your playlists are incredible.

  19. Loved the communion tonight, I’d love to hear either Acid Rain by Model/Actriz or Yr body is nothing by Boy Harsher on one of these soon!

  20. The Plasmatics’ “Master Plan” for a future show would be pretty cool.

    Have a great week, everyone!

  21. Exceptional set this week maestro! Thanks so much for playing “The Big Hand.” You are absolutely correct, should have been on Wish. Maybe instead of that Friday song? Loved hearing the Bunnymen do the Velvets, that was sublime. Always great to have Spiritualized on the show, props to Nicole. And the industrial selections are always on point but this week was particularly strong. Love that PTP track.

Request for a future communion: how about a visit to “My New House” by The Fall.

Have a great week Matt and fellow darkwavers, cheers!

  22. Great show. Giving it to Hour 3 this week. Great selections from Split Second, Au Pais, and Psychic TV put it over the to.

Please play Clock DVA “Beautiful Losers” on an upcoming episode. Thanks

  23. Excellent! Thanks for playing the Dead Can Dance track

  24. Bravo for another top notch show! And thank you for playing my request for Spiritualized – much appreciated. A few highlights include PIL, Love and Rockets, Peter Murphy and the Bunnymen covering the Velvets…

    A request for a future communion – a nod to this site…
    Pixies “Debaser”

Thanks! Wishing all a good week.

  25. Cyclic Amp – Gun (1988) Apple Music + Bandcamp
Talking Heads –Drugs (1979) Apple Music + Qobuz

  26. Controlled Bleeding! A real blast from the past. Actually that industrial block of four starting with NIN was the best mix I’ve heard in a very long time.
