Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (7/27/25)

Chris & Cosey

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  11. Can you please play me
    “Moon” by Teenage Filmstars
On a future show, they are a weird/great shoegaze side project of the main man from The Television Personalities .

  12. Thankful for all the music I’ve heard on this show for the first time and interesting facts .
I’d like to hear Ultravox “the voice “ if you have a good quality live version that’d be nice.
    Thanks!

  13. For a future show, “The Pink Room” by Angelo Badalamenti would be pretty sweet.

  14. Awesome show last night and already well into the replay. The James Ray track was a nice one to hear since I’m in Mexico right now, very cool. Supernaut was perfect, RIP Ozzy. Industrial blocks the last couple of weeks have been on point. Love that TKK track and the Hula too, and you played my fave Skinny Puppy track.

That great Iggy song got me thinking of Grace Jones’s cover version on her album of the same name. How about her version of She’s Lost Control on a future communion?

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  15. Hello Matt, any chance you could play The Fool by The Fixx?

  16. A Gentoo Penguin

    Swans – The Great Annihilator

    • I came here to request Swans too!

So I’ll add my support to this one, and throw in a request for The Sound, such as “New Dark Age” or “Fatal Flaw.”

  17. Well a super high five to you Matt for Plainsong, Alice and New Dress (and an extra high five to Nathan as I’m sure he’s happy too! ◉‿◉) A really fine mix of songs all three hours. Some possible suggestions for next time:

Snake River Conspiracy – Lovesong (Cure cover)
Death Cab For Cutie – Lovesong (Cure cover)
Tori Amos – Lovesong (Cure cover)

Ha! See what I did there?!!!

    Thanks again as always!!!!! 。◕‿◕。

  18. Excellent show last night, Matt! I’m sad that Ozzy passed.

  19. Great show! Hour two was fierce!

  20. James Ray put Hour 1 over the top for me. Great selections all around.

For a future episode, would like to ask for The Marionettes please. Either “Like Christabel” or “Love Is”

Thanks and have a great week.

  21. Great set! Thanks for playing the live vers of So What – man those double drums and Barker’s bass still hit so hard…

I would like to put Every Little Counts up for the Perfect Little Song Hall of Fame – joining ditties like Fearless by Pink Floyd or Easily Fooled by Pavement.

In keeping with the live songs theme and in honor of seeing NIN for the first time in… forever next week, how about Terrible Lie or any other track off of And All That Could Have Been sometime in the next few weeks?

Thanks once again for our weekly communion, Matt!

    • Second on the NIN! Also seeing them live next week, can’t wait. And Easily Fooled is def on my Pavement favorites shortlist.

  22. this is the only show i look forward to on xm radio.
my request is for Death In June
“Nothing Changes” from their first album would be a great post punk track to spin for an 80s dark wave show . My late friend loved their song “Heaven Street” both versions . DIJ first album “Guilty Have No Pride” some tracks have a Joy Division feel , i wonder if there was any influence on them at the time. Sixth Comm’s “Calling” is a good cover of the DIJ track also Sol Invictus – Death Of The West is a good cover of the DIJ song since both groups are former members from DIJ first album.

  23. Maybe on a future show you could play “Tall Ships” by The Swirlies, they’re great ! And this one is one of my faves. RIP OZZY !
Great stuff by Gang of four, Iggy Pop, Eleven pond, The Misfits, Tones on tail, Jesus and mary chain and Gary Numan
    Thank You

  24. Lydia Lunch & Rowland S. Howard – What is Memory (1991) Bandcamp
Breathless – Monkey Talk (1986) Apple Music + Qobuz

  25. That Minimal Compact is what has been missing in my life!

  26. Thank you for another top notch show. A few highlights include James Ray, JAMC, Bowie, Iggy, Depeche Mode…and please keep playing Ozzy tributes.

A request for a future episode:
X “I must not think bad thoughts”

Thank you! So grateful for these weekly communions of dark tunes.

  27. Another great show Matt. How about It’s too late by The Jim Carroll Band.

  28. Salutations, Matt!

Long-time listener and fan of the show! Your phenomenal program always serves as my Sunday night ritual. Loved tonight’s show, Plainsong is a truly perfect opening track, and that Tones on Tail track was great!

    A few requests:

Love & Rockets — All In My Mind
    The Chameleons — Perfume Garden

    Thanks so much!

    — Dylan
