“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).
The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.
Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

Hi Matt, loved tonight’s show!
How about a little more Front Line Assembly:
Front Line Assembly – Prophecy
Magnificent episode of Dark Wave hands down! Didn’t expect Throbbing Gristle to be here. Here are some requests to celebrate RSD 2025!
The Cure – Sinking
Public Image LTD – Theme
The Mission – Raising Cain
Great hour 3, some Front 242 Neurobashing or Soul Manager? Associates An even whiter car.
Lot of requests squeezed in tonight, which is always quite cool! That Sonic Youth song is crazy underrated.
Good spring season DW!
I wanted to just request anything off of the new Throwing Muses album (“Albatross” has been a good one)but I’ll also now request anything from Gang of Four/Shriekback in honor of Dave Allen.
Thanks!
Great request Elliot. Thanks for it.
Hard to figure out what Mr. Allen’s best bass line was. “Damaged Goods” maybe? Though I always liked “Outside the Trains Don’t Run On Time” and “What We All Want”.
Loved hearing Starpower tonight!
For a future episode, how about Your Funeral’s “I Want To Be You.”
Excellent show tonight! It was great to hear faster than light.
Great SY and Jesus Lizard picks!
Requesting “Puppet Life” by Punishment Of Luxury. Thanks Matt!
Great set last night, In one of the future shows I would love to hear “ Ghost Highway” by Mazzy Star
Thank you
Hi Matt, not a totally “dark” request, but wondering if you could play my favorite Alphaville song “Summer in Berlin” from the album “Forever Young”. That’s one fantastic Alphaville track that almost never gets airtime on any program.
Agreed!!!!!!
Requesting 1,000 Homo DJ’s – Hey Asshole
UK Decay – Stage Struck
Loved hearing “Monkey Trick”! Looking forward to seeing The Jesus Lizard in May. My request is:
Savage Republic, “When All Else Fails”
Thanks, Matt!
Incredible program! Thank you for the DM & Coil tracks I requested – way awesome of you!!! I especially loved the Pixies, Sisters, and (of course) the illustrious shoegaze block! It’s a favorite for a reason! Anywho in a weirdo coincidence I too was going to request Throwing Muses this week (older stuff tho)….but it’s 2025 – can’t we have both?! LOL! Some possible suggestions for next time:
Throwing Muses – Counting Backwards
Belly – Gepetto
Medicine – 5ive
Girl power!
Thanks again as always!!! 。◕‿◕。
Hells yes to all 3 of these, that is one killer trifecta Tina!
How about Shriekback – My Spine is the Bassline in memory of Dave Allen.
Seconded
Thirded!
Fourth!
So much good music this time round. My favorite Fad Gadget song and great cuts from Comsat Angels and Altered Images. Good work.
Want to ask for some Sugarcubes on a future episode please. Maybe “F***ing in Rhythm and Sorrow”, “Water”, or “Hey”.
Thanks for the great music. Have a good one.
Matt, thank you for the “top shelf” mix this week – serving us only the finest in our beloved dark sounds. And thank you so much for playing my request for Suicide. A few of my favorites from this communion include JAMC, shoegaze block, Sonic Youth, live Nick Cave, the Bunnymen, and PIL.
A request for an upcoming show:
New Order “Confusion” (from the Substance comp, not the instrumental)
Thank you! Wishing everyone a good week.
Another great set Matt! Thanks for playing the Sonic Youth request, happy to see others dug it as well. Loved hearing Pixies and Weddoes right before that killer goth post punk block. Always happy with a shoegaze block, especially with a fave Chapterhouse b-side in there, kudos.
Could we get ‘Misery of Cities” by Abecedarians on a future show?
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
Disco Inferno – Fallen Down The Wire (1991) Apple Music + Qobuz
Portishead – Machine Gun (2008) Apple Music + Qobuz
Yes,I agree PORTISHEAD-Machine gun!Gr8 call!
Seriously killer show this week, Matt! A few highlights for me….
Hour 1: An incredible Siouxsie song, the segue from The Pixies into The Wedding Present; Christian Death, Theater of Hate, 1919
Hour 2: Shoegazerama, particularly the Chapterhouse, Majesty Crush (what a cool weird offshoot byproduct of the genre), MBV covering Wire (never listened to that track before…WOW). Much love to Lush too, but have listened to that song countless times… that gorgeous live Nick Cave into Echo and the Bunnymen.
Hour 3: Sonic Youth “Star Power” that song struck me in the midst of this set like never before, Coil (LSD, classic!) into TG, Young Marble Giant, and the one-two punch of Flipper into Jesus Lizard.
So much other good stuff too. Thanks for this one!
Bravo Matt bravo, well done my good man!Splendid, splendid indeed! All around good show my boy,but could you also consider these helpings:
Nik Turner-Walking In The Sky
Severed Heads-First Steps
KMFDM-The Unrestrained Use Of Excessive
Force.
Thanx as always my good man,pip pip cheerio & all that good stuff.
Finally got a listen in and it was a great show! Thanks for playing the jesus lizard!
I couldn’t listen ‘live’ because I was at Kraftwerk Sunday- soooooo good, I recommend to all of y’all if they’re still heading to your area on this tour!!
I’m still stuck deep in Electro-land so will request alleys of your mind by Cybotron for a future episode… I think it could work in a darkwave way!
Thanks matt!!
