Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (3/2/25)

The Cramps

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. Front 242 – Masterhit

    Thanks!

  2. Great show as usual, Matt!

I have a unique request. Is there a demo of a song that you really like from any artist that you think everyone should hear?

    Thank you.

  3. For next week

    Joy Division – Autosuggestion
Modern English – Carry Me Down
Siouxsie and The Banshees – Switch
    Depeche Mode – Halo

  4. Great show. I loved the first hour the best.

  5. Oh how I love that Lucy Show song. Thank you!!!

  6. Maid of Orleans- OMD

  7. Constantine

The Hanging Garden by The Cure

    Constantine

  8. You can never have too much OMD, on synth pop side, how about “We Love You” from “Pacific Age”

  9. The Wake, The Cramps, Kraftwerk (who I’m seeing end of month) were quite the lineup! I’m stuck on the first 2 hours. Suggestion for next communion is Ministry – Work for Love

  10. Enjoyable set last night and already listened to the first hour again this morning. Thanks for playing my Wake request, and for continuing to play so many requests.

Here’s one more: “Nick the Stripper” by The Birthday Party.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  11. That was all great (hanks for playing that RSW request!) but the peak for me was the Danse Society Rolling Stones cover. Awesome stuff!

Continuing darkwave free association, The Toy Dolls, for some reason, brought up Holger Czukay’s Cool in the Pool for me. Maybe because they’re both a bit silly? Anyway, not sure if it’d fit in a darkwave episode, but in case it does – there’s my suggestion!

    Thanks as always, Matt!

  12. Always enjoy the punk block!

    Here are some requests –

    Throwing Muses – Ellen West
The Gun Club – Carry Home

    Thanks!

  13. Hi Matt, I’d love to hear Leave Me Alone by New Order if there’s an opportunity to include it sometime. Thank you!

  14. In other news, R.E.M. reunited for a run through on “Pretty Persuasion” the other night, and at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, no less!

    • This is the kind of good news the world needs right now! Thanks for sharing.

      • A while back there was a post here about the last songs bands played together. At the time for R.E.M. is was “Man in the Moon.”

Somebody posted that they should get back together just so the last song they played wasn’t “Man in the Moon.”

About a year ago they reunited at the Songwriters Hall Of Fame induction and played “Losing My Religion.”

I know a full throttle reunion for an album and or tour isn’t in the cards, but for a band who is adamant about not reuniting they have been sending out just tiny little bits of hope!

  15. Another superb program Matt!!! Thank you for playing my requests (E&TB & DK). I really appreciate you doing that for me/us! Wow haven’t heard Renegade Soundwave in ages how awesome!!! Spring is finally in the air (sort of) and I am feeling energetic – how about some rockin beats for next time:

    PWEI – Everything’s Cool
    KMFDM – Anarchy
    Nitzer Ebb – Getting Closer

    Thanks again as always!! 。◕‿◕。

  16. Great cuts throughout, but I have to give it to Hour 1 this week.

Thanks for the great music. Have a good one.

  17. Thank you for another excellent serving of the dark stuff! Always cool to hear personal favorites from The Cramps, New Order, Kraftwerk, Joy Division, Love and Rockets and The Rose of Avalanche.

A request for an upcoming show: in honor of David Johansen’s passing…Another influential icon has left us – RIP.

    New York Dolls “Personality Crisis”

    Thanks!

    • Seconded! Anything from the Dolls in honor of Johansen, as they were a band that influenced many of those who are often played weekly on DW.

      • I am not sure The Smiths – or a solo Morrissey career – exist without the Dolls. RIP Mr. Johansen, you are a legend.

  18. Hello Matt,

Mussolini Headkick – your god is dead

    For a future show….

  19. Jazz Butcher/ Southern Mark Smith or Real Men

  20. How about playing the new single by sevendials, the newest industrial supergroup on next weeks dark wave?

  21. Corey- the Ohio one

Good show. I didn’t realize Peter Gabriel was on the table. If so, same album “The Intruder”. Also, you introduced me to Eleven Pond a couple of episodes back, so I will through out
“Watching Trees (bedroom mix)” as well.

  22. Bowery Electric – Coming Down (1996) Apple Music + Qobuz + Bandcamp
Holger Czukay, Jah Wobble, Jaki Liebezeit – How Much Are They? (1981) Qobuz + Apple Music

  23. Doves – Darker

  24. Another masterful entry my friend, and the techo-industrial didn’t go unnoticed, Numan & Foxx brilliant!Got some ideas All the best!

  26. Hello Matt,

Before I forget yet again, can you play Bare from Wild Mood Swings on a future show?

    Thank You

  27. Kurt Johnson

Jeff Runnings (For Against) passed away on Monday March 3rd. Please share a song from For Against on one of your next shows. Today Today, from Aperture seems most appropriate, but may not be right for the “masses!” Thanks Matt!

    • Sending peace and love to the Runnings family. For Against are a criminally underrated band. Thankful for so many great songs.

  28. For Against-Amen Yves

Another great episode of dark wave!

  29. RIP Brian James
Idiot Box or Fan Club for a tribute bloc!
