“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).
The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.
Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

Stronger than never, ever before, Darkwave is the drug against war. Tonight was one of those that will be needing a second, possibly third listen. If it’s no trouble, may we hear:
Misfits – Comeback
I hate to hear about a fellow Darkwaver’s loss, how very kind of you to play their request this evening. Thank you for doing the Lord’s work.
Hi Matt! Here’s my modest request:
Boy Harsher – Motion
Thanks.
Hey,
I love your show! I have been listening to it for years.
Can I request “No Flash in the Sky” by Moev? To me, they always reminded me of Canada’s answer to Depeche Mode, but on the song that I requested they sound more like the Sisters of Mercy….
Set list looks amazing. Only got to hear half the show. Looking forward to the other half. And thanks for playing No More last week.
For a future episode, would like to ask for Portion Control. Maybe “Refugee” or “The Great Divide”.
Appreciate the great music. Hope you have a good rest of your week.
New Order – Cries & Whispers
Please play the Soft Kills cover of Ministry I’m Falling.
Thanks for The Bolshoi!
I loved tonight’s playlist especially you playing The Cure for our fellow listeners loss. I have what I think is an excellent choice for a request, Chris Connelly’s side project Murder Inc. and would love to hear the title track Murder Inc.
Sincerely
Paul
Loved hearing Galaxie 500 that was a delightful closer. Also great Mercury Rev and Cramps tracks also one of the most kick ass Cure songs and best wishes to the man who requested it.
I only have one request and that would be to hear
“Cop Shoot Cop” by Spiritualized.
I just love that song. Also I really liked that Felt song you played. Thanks for a great show Matt
Have not heard that Mercury Rev track in probably 30 years! Another great set, Matt!
Great show!
Please can you play The Sweetest Chill by Siouxsie and the banshees on a future show? Thank you!
Thank you for a lot in this one, timeless Stranglers track
How about I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles from the Cockney Rejects next week
Thank you for being here every Sunday
Not sure why, and I know better than to overanalyze, but for some reason “Strange” hit perfectly last night. Really solid show this week, Matt. Hope your (and anyone reading this) week goes well!
I haven’t listened to the whole show but early highlights include Love and Rockets, The Smiths, Bauhaus, Cabaret Voltaire…and The Cure request hit hard – condolences to that listener.
I see my Weirdos request in the playlist – thank you so much for including it. Sometimes I need a little dose of punk to shake off the cobwebs…
And a request for a future show:
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds “Do you love me?”
Thank you! Take care and have a good week.
Hour one was truly needed! Great feel and flow throughout. Also great cover choices as always!
Here is a request –
The Smiths – What She Said (preferably the Rubber Ring/What She Said (Medley) off of “Rank”, but the album version is also good)
Thanks!
Lovely set last night, looking forward to listening to the replay. That Shriekback cut is so funky, love it. Really enjoyed hearing The Smiths and Felt back to back. Sending positive thoughts to the listener who requested The Cure track.
That Sisters deep cut got me thinking about how badly I need the Alice and Reptile House EPs on vinyl. Could we hear “Floorshow” off the Alice EP on a future show?
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
P.S. For any David Lynch fans who reside in the Bay area, the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland is running a tribute to Lynch from Feb 7-12. Double features each day. And the Balboa in SF is also screening a few of his films throughout February.
Alien Sex Field – Ignore the Machine
Good day Matt!! Firstly let me express my condolences to the listener who lost their loved one. Sending well wishes your way. Secondly thank you for playing my Smiths request….been a long while since I heard that album! Thirdly I absolutely loved the songs played last night – especially the first two hours! Some possible suggestions for next time:
Chapterhouse – Need (Somebody)
Curve – Horror Head
Cranes – Jewel
Ha! All C’s!! Thanks again as always!!! 。◕‿◕。
Love all 3 of these C’s, but I gotta second some Chapterhouse and that killer deep cut. Nice one Tina!
Thanks bud! ☺️
One of your best shows! Loved Negativland. Good to hear some old Sisters of Mercy.
Awesome episode last night!
Thanks for playing David Sylvian and Simple Minds a few weeks ago. I’m hoping you will get around to my Consolidated request eventually. Anyway, I was thinking after hearing over the past few weeks Test Department, Severed Heads and then Coil on this show how many acts from back in the day went on to make/dabble in house/techno/dance music later in their careers. With that, I am hoping to hear in future shows:
Final Cut – Burn Baby Burn
Bigod 20 – The Bog
Wooden Tops – Why Why Why
Marathon – Movin
Wolfgang Press – Time
My Bloody Valentine – Soon (Andrew Weatherall remix)
Absolute KILLER show!
You had three of the classic “S”s – Siouxsie and Shriekback… you just needed some shoegaze.
A request for next week? A modest block of shoegaze (dealer’s choice).
Thanks!
For the next show…
From Side to Side – Lowlife
Thanks Matt!
Maaaaatt…smashing show as always! The Stranglers,oh hell yeah!Digging the sets, and this makes 1 year I’ve been addicted to DARK WAVE!
Got some requests & thanx as always.
THAT PETROL EMOTION-Fleshprint,V2 or Can’t Stop
KMFDM-Positiv
SHOTGUN MESSIAH-Side fx
Absolutely look forward each week to the show. I was wondering if I could request a song.. New Order “In a Lonely Place”? I had to put my doggy down and that’s how I am feeling right now. Thank you.
She would lay next to me and we both would listen to your show.
Kevin, sorry for the loss of your dog. Hope music (like New Order) brings you comfort.
Hello. Thanks for making a great show. I would like to request the following songs please.
Rosegarden Funeral Party – Blitzkrieg in Holland
Sunshine Blind – Keyslough
Manufacture – As The End Draws Near
The Bellwether Syndicate – Noir Thing
Dave Ball – Passion Of A Primitive (1983) Apple Music + Qobuz
Marianne Faithfull – Why’d Ya Do It (1979) Apple Music + Qobuz
Oh yeah, I forgot these
Shamen – Hyperreal (Selector) (Jack Dangers remix)
Underworld -Underneath the Radar
Still a dedicated listener. I haven’t commented in awhile though so time to restart!
I like the KMFDM hard, fast, start to the show! My recommendation for next communion is Altar De Fey, Demons
That Galaxie 500 was hit the spots!
I’ve been listening for only 7 months now, but the shows seem to get better each week. I had a CD of 99% by Meat Beat Manifesto which I loved, but this is my first listen to Placebo from Satyricon…heckuva great tune.
I’ll make an easy request: Cherry Coloured Funk by the Cocteau Twins.
‘sliding in a late entry into the comments, i actually got time for a second full episode listen in this week. It was an incredible episode, so varied! some personal highlights…
loved the dour tone struck by 13th Chime, Felt was another artist unfamiliar to me, and that mysterious transmission of Rema Rema was fantastic.
as for heavy hitters….Always thrill to a Foetus appearance, and Butterfly Potion is one of my all time favorites of his, especially this version. Coil ‘Love’s Secret Domain’ is a top shelf classic, and the Pigface song was incredible. Can’t say I was familiar with the vocals of Lesley Rankine but that will change now.
that was a particularly mesmerizing Mercury Rev track and a wonderful comedown by Galaxy 500.
finally, heartfelt condolences to the listener who requested the beautiful Cure song. I am sorry for your loss.
