Rosegarden Funeral Party – Blitzkrieg in Holland
Sunshine Blind – Keyslough
Manufacture – As The End Draws Near
The Bellwether Syndicate – Noir Thing
Stellar show from start to finish! The Dave Lynch and shoe gaze blocks were top notch.
A request for an upcoming show:
In honor of her recent passing…
Marianne Faithfull “Broken English”
Thank you! Wishing all a wonderful week.
39 Clocks´ album is actually called “Paint it dark”.
It´s still called “Paint it dark”.
Hi Matt
Could you please play “Love Crushing” by Fetchin Bones? Y’all know her from Pigface, we know her from Sugarsmack, Hope Nichols is a North Carolina treasure. Queen City, yes, but she went to school down the road in Swannanoa, hit especially hard from Helene. WNC Love…
Good day Matt! Wow a really great 3 hours of dark spectacular goodness…..I especially loved the tribute songs and the shoegaze block….damn fine choices in there! Thank you also for playing my requests (as always we appreciate you taking us on your journey). I am happy to see Cowboy Junkies in the play list – they do a spectacular version of Sweet Jane in case you ever wanna throw that track on. Lou Reed even loves it or so I’ve read.
In addition to the Junkies….some other possible suggestions for next time:
Delerium – Flowered Become Screens
This Mortal Coil – Waves Become Wings
Thanks again as always!!!! 。◕‿◕。
^^^ should say Flowers
^^^^and loved
Absolutely loved the block of Lynchian tunes, thanks for that. And it goes without saying that the shoegaze block never disappoints. So many gems in this week’s installment. Always a great show when we get the “Gothfather”, Tones on Tail, Love and Rockets, and Bauhaus. Also glad to hear that you’re excited to hear Ted Leo do his best Andy Gill on the upcoming tour. I’m a fan of David Pajo and was bummed when I heard that he’s not going to be on the farewell tour, but your endorsement of Leo is good to hear.
I love it when we get some cover versions sprinkled into the set. I was wondering if you could dig up The Jazz Butcher’s killer cover of “Roadrunner” by The Modern Lovers, featuring none other than David J on bass.
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
I’ll second this request! I also enjoy when cover songs are sprinkled into the set. And this request reminds me of the “Frequency” by JAMC which I believe gives a nod to “Roadrunner”.
Hour 2 was amazing Matt. Have a great week all.
Great show Matt, loved that shoegaze block. Haven’t heard moose in a long while. Also great numbers by the cure, love and rockets, tones on tail and galaxie 500. On that note I would love to hear another song produced by the great Kramer at Noise New York. That would be the tune
“Somethings Last A Long Time” by Daniel Johnston, I know it’s not a normal song you play on Darkwave but I think it could fit in. If you could find a good place for it.
Thanks. Keep up the great work.
David Sylvian – Maria (1987) Apple Music + Qobuz
Boris – Sometimes (My Bloody Valentine) Apple Music + Qobuz + Bandcamp
High-level choices in each hour!
Here’s a request –
Siouxsie and the Banshees – Metal Postcard (Mittageisen)
Thanks!
Paint! Paint! Paint! ;-)
incredible show. loved the david lynch tribute, loved the shoegaze, love vanishing point. hell yeah. thank you
Greetings Matt, thanks for another great show! loved the David Lynch tribute block. Was captivated the End Of Your Garden track, which I was unfamiliar with, and was the start of a beautiful set with your picks from Galaxy 500 and The The. The shoegaze block was lovely as always. Appreciated the chance to get better acquainted with Moose and was especially nice hearing ‘When The Sun Hits’ by Slowdive, who i just saw in concert a few days before.
Speaking of concerts, and not to brag, but I have got quite a Dark Wave-inspired calendar of shows lined up, more so than usual, with Kraftwerk, Beth Gibbons, The Wedding Present, (hopefully) Gang of Four, and Thurston Moore/Michael Rother on the horizon.
On that note, I’m not sure if Rother’s Harmonia has made it onto a playlist so I’d like to request ‘Dino’ off of the Musik Von Harmonia album for a future show.
You got me reacquainted with David Lynch and some songs off the Lost Highway soundtrack! My recommendation for next communion is Demons by Altar De Fay
Re-listening (and making it through the 3rd hour this time!) right now – great stuff! As many others have said, the David Lynch block was a fun one.
Just picked up Ministry (doing With Sympathy and Twitch?!?!) and TKK tickets. Excited! To celebrate, I would like to request Burning Dirt or Tonight We Murder or perhaps a block of both for some future episode of Darkwave!
Thanks for everything you do for our mighty community, Matt!
Nice little shoegaze set!
