“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. Not only my favorite MBV, you closed with my favorite Simple Minds and Yaz to boot : – )
    Thank you!
Oh – and that SoM really hit the mood too . . .
Great show tonight. I’ll be listening a few more times over the coming two weeks.

  2. Hi Matt! For your consideration:
Siouxsie and the Banshees – Painted Bird

    Thanks.

  3. That Yaz track was the perfect finish tonight.

“Aphrodisiac” by Bow Wow Wow for a future show would be rad. Hope everyone reading this is well!

  4. Fantastic show as always! Thank you for playing my X request – it’s appreciated. And I loved all the cover songs, shoegaze in hour 2, JAMC, and an awesome set of closers…Thank you for the best playlists week after week!

A request for an upcoming show:
    Spiritualized “Electricity”

Thanks! And wishing everyone a great week.

  5. Cannot wait to go all-in on this show Matt, connected with Lush when I got of the ER last night, your show on a Sunday night is like your best friend waiting for you after that twelve plus hour shift.
For your consideration for a future show,
    Home And Garden- Melville
My Dad Is Dead- Seven Years

Your show means the world to a lot of people, Thank you!!

    • Rick U, I’m nodding my head in agreement to your comment – this show does mean the world to a lot of people. Amen!

  6. I’m listening to the show on the SiriusMX app and can’t get past the Echo and the Bunnymen opener, great song and a great setlist for me to look forward to this week!

My suggestion for next week is KMFDM Adios

  7. I wish you were on nightly.

  8. Fantastic set last night. Always lovely to feel the shoegaze wash over the speakers, excellent block as always. Also really enjoyed the moody British bands block to close out hour 3. No Love Lost has always been a personal fave of mine, something about Stephen’s drums. The Fall and Section 25 would have fit in there perfectly too. Hour 1 was awesome.

The leadoff Bunnymen selection got me thinking of their masterpiece album, Porcupine. Ian may still say Ocean Rain is their masterpiece but I will always go to bat for Porcupine. Could we hear “Gods Will Be Gods” on a future show?

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  9. I would like to request either “ Point that thing somewhere else” or “ fish” by The Clean
Really great stuff last night loved the shoegaze and my favorite Joy Division song thanks.

  10. Ok true story I’m still singing the chorus from Some Kind of Hate – thank you so much for playing it!!!! A really excellent program Matt …. ending with Winter Kills….man perfect choice for us here in NY….today was the first day above freezing in like a month!! Anyways…. loved the shoegaze as always as well! I recently purchased tickets for the upcoming Deftones tour (yes I realize they’re more metal than industrial, but they have an incredible cover songs album from an array of Dark Wave artists)….if possible I’d love to hear:

    The Chauffeur (Duran Duran)
If Only Tonight We Could Sleep (The Cure)
    Ghosts (Japan)

    Thanks again as always!!! 。◕‿◕。

    • I’ll second the eternally lovely Chauffeur. They opened their Cruel World set with that one.

In a related request, the extended version of Arcadia’s Rose Arcana would be great.

  11. really nice show last night! Winter Kills, indeed.

    thanks Matt!

  12. Great cover choices and deep cuts!

    Here are some requests –

The Damned – The Shadow of Love
Wall of Voodoo – Ring of Fire

    Thanks!

  13. Great cuts in Hours 1 and 3, especially the Concrete Blonde and Grinning Plowman, but I have to give it to Hour 2 tonight. Great shoegaze block. Great two songs to end it on. And Exec Slacks in the middle. Loved it all.

Would like to ask you to consider Murder Inc. “Mania” on a future episode.

Thanks for the great music. Have a good one.

  14. Moby – New Dawn Fades (1997 I Like To Score) Apple Music + Qobuz
    3 Teens Kill 4 – 5/4 (1983) Apple Music + Qobuz + Bandcamp

  15. Matt,my man, you always deliver the Dark & I’m much appreciated, especially those EXECUTIVE SLACKS, yes & thanx much.
Here’s a go fer ya, howz about these blokes!
    CABARET VOLTAIRE-Nag Nag Nag
    NON(Boyd Rice)-Out Out Out
    All the best
    M

  16. Would love to hear Agent Orange by Depeche Mode. Instrumental B-Side off the Strangelove single – think it would have fit very well on the track list of Music for the Masses

  17. I can’t even think of a request right now…I’m just SO GRATEFUL that you played “Monochrome” by Lush. It was the love song for my husband and me in the late 90s and we still agree on it today.

  18. Kurt Johnson

Not sure I have ever heard you play The Passage, but then again I don’t listen to every show. If you could play XoYo that would be grand. Sub request, Jeff Runnings (For Against) has now gone from home Hospice to a Institutional Hospice facility. The end is near. Can you play a For Against song in honor? Thanks!

  19. Randall Griffith

Hi Matt, great show last week! Would you consider any cut off Roland S. Howard’s “Teenage Snuff Film” other than White Wedding, as well as The Church’s “Shadow Cabinet.” Thanks!

  20. Hey Matt, running late on my comments but have been listening! Absolutely floored by the hour 2 run of songs from Slowdive to Bleach. Other highlights…the Echo & The Bunnymen opening track, and The Monochrome Set.

Last week, I was pleased by how great the new Throwing Muses song was, and loved the selections by The The and For Against.

By the way, killer cuts from Joy Division this week and last. Looking forward to the next transmission!

  21. I know it’s long, but I’d love to hear The Lord’s Prayer by Siouxsie and the Banshees. It’s one of the most punk songs ever.

  22. If possible could you play “This is Procedure” by Crazy House?
