The Los Angeles area has been a hive of post-punk activity of late, with the convergence over the last two weeks of The Cure’s massive North American tour, The Sisters of Mercy’s first U.S. visit in 15 years, and the Cruel World festival, featuring the live returns of both Siouxsie and Love and Rockets.
Music photographer Kevin Estrada documented all of that, and he’s already shared with Slicing Up Eyeballs images from The Cure’s three-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl and the first show of the Love and Rockets reunion, at Cruel World. Now we’re happy to present Estrada’s photography from the first of the Sisters’ two shows at the Hollywood Palladium, on May 15.
The band — mastermind Andrew Eldritch, plus Ben Christo, Dylan Smith, “Ravey” Dave Creffield and drum machine Doktor Avalanche — ran through unreleased music and classics like “This Corrosion,” “Lucretia My Reflection” and “More.” (Full setlist here.)
