Howard Jones is set to release a brand-new studio album this summer and is planning to hit the road on a 27-date U.S. tour with Midge Ure.

Nikolaos Katranis and Russell Craig Richardson are working on a four-part documentary series on post-punk music, based on Simon Reynolds’ book “Rip It Up and Start Again.”

Midge Ure will revisit the music of his band Ultravox, as well as his own solo catalog, with a new album called Orchestrated that will feature a dozen re-recordings of some of his best-known songs, including “Dancing with Tears in My Eyes” and “Vienna.” Check out the full tracklist right here.

Midge Ure returns this August with his first new solo album in more than a decade, a 10-song set called Fragile that he’ll promote by joining the 13-date Retro Futura Tour later this summer alongside Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, Howard Jones, China Crisis and Katrina of Katrina & The Waves.

This week’s new releases include box sets collecting albums from the Ramones and Ultravox, a new collection of Christmas songs form punk legends Bad Religion, plus expanded reissues of the first six albums from Bananarama, as well as The Godfathers’ 1993 album and Belfegore’s sophomore effort.

Still struggling from the loss of planned headliner The Human League, the promoters of this summer’s Regeneration Tour today announced they’ve been forced to scale back to a West Coast-only trek, unveiling new shows and lineups in Portland, Ore., Sacramento and Mexico City while also canceling a date in Atlanta.

The Regeneration Tour, which bills itself as “North America’s premier ’80s tour,” has lost another high-profile act, as The Human League this week pulled out of the summer trek, announcing “we were promised one thing and delivered something so completely different we just could not make it work, much as we wanted to.”

Simple Minds will embark next week on an extensive U.K. tour in support of the band’s forthcoming ‘Celebrate — The Greatest Hits+’ best-0f collection but fans in that country will get another chance to see the band come November, when Jim Kerr and Co. play four arena dates with special guest Ultravox.

Billing itself as “North America’s premier ’80s tour,” the semi-annual Regeneration Tour returns this August for an undisclosed number of U.S. concerts featuring Erasure frontman Andy Bell, The Human League, Howard Jones and Information Society — but not, as tour promoters originally had hoped, the reunited Ultravox.

Ultravox frontman and solo artist Midge Ure will be the subject of a new 2CD, 32-track best-of dubbed ‘The Works’ this spring as he puts the finishing touches on a new live album that was recorded in Chicago earlier this year during his rare North American solo tour.

Midge Ure today announced a rare North American solo tour that’s set to take place this coming January — featuring, “so far,” 12 dates confirmed across the U.S. and a single Canadian concert —that he says “is to pave the way for the possibility of bringing Ultravox over later in the year.”
