As part of the promotion of the new Public Image Ltd. album ‘This Is PiL,’ frontman John Lydon has launched a new video series called the ‘Lollipop Blog,’ of which he spends the first installment discussing the artwork he created for the record’s cover — including the ‘freedom buffalo’ that graces the CD’s front cover.

John Lydon’s reactivated Public Image Ltd. is planning a North American tour later this year, the group announced on its website today. No details have been released about the trek, which comes more than two years after PiL’s post-Coachella tour of North America in the spring of 2010.

This week’s new releases include the first new albums in decades from Public Image Ltd. and the hit ’80s lineup of Ultravox, plus a new four-disc Colourbox box set and expanded reissues of Sugar’s classic 1992 debut ‘Copper Blue’ and The Charlatans’ 1997 album ‘Tellin’ Stories.’

Via the release of the ‘One Drop’ EP last month, we’ve heard four of the new Public Image Ltd. tracks that will appear on ‘This Is PiL,’ the group’s first new album in 20 years, which arrives May 28 in the U.K. and May 29 in the U.S. Now comes a fifth new track, via Rolling Stone: ‘Deeper Water.’

On Saturday, Public Image Ltd. will release its first new music in 20 years in the form of the ‘One Drop’ EP, a Record Store Day release featuring four tracks off the band’s upcoming full-length album ‘This Is PiL.’ We’ve already heard lead single “One Drop,” but now comes a second new PiL track: “Lollipop Opera.”
