This is a round-up of the week’s new albums, expanded reissues and/or box sets, appearing each Monday on Slicing Up Eyeballs. All releases due out this Friday unless noted. The debut album by Scottish indie-pop favorites The Vaselines — the 10-song Dum-Dum, originally released in 1989 shortly before the band split for the first time — will be reissued on clear heavyweight 180-gram vinyl next month for Record Store Day in the U.K. Full details right here.

This week’s releases include brand-new studio albums from the Buzzcocks, The Vaselines and Stiff LIttle Fingers, plus a reissue of Big Country’s “Steeltown” to marks its 30th anniversary, a collection of David Byrne/Fatboy Slim remixes from their stage production about Imelda Maros.

Like Mission of Burma, Scottish indie-pop faves The Vaselines are on their way to becoming more prolific post-reunion than in their original incarnation, this week announcing their second post-reunion album, and only their third overall, called V for Vaselines.

Last night at Seattle’s Bumbershoot festival, The Vaselines capped off their very short run of U.S. dates by inviting former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic on stage to play accordion on the Scottish indie-pop band’s 1987 classic “Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam,” a performance you can watch here via Guerrilla Candy.
