A year after reissuing their debut The Hurting in a bonus-stuffed box set, Tears For Fears is set to do the same for their monstrously successful second album, with an ambitious, multi-format reissue of 1985’s smash Songs From the Big Chair due out this fall.

It’s not clear yet whether a full tour is brewing, but Tears For Fears — who have been at work on a follow-up to 2004’s Everybody Loves a Happy Ending — have confirmed five live dates in the U.S. next month, with shows booked in Texas, Oklahoma, California and Oregon.

This week’s new releases include a live CD/DVD combo from Simple Minds, a new best-of from The Dream Academy, vinyl reissues of classic debut albums from Tears For Fears, ABC and Soft Cell, a live album from The Specials reissued on vinyl, and a new best-of set of 2 Tone ska.

This week’s new releases include Blu-ray reissues of ‘Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols’ and Tears For Fears’ ‘The Hurting’ on Blu-ray, plus a reissue of The Verlaines’ 1987 compilation ‘Juvenilia’ and a five-record box set from Stiff Little Fingers.

Tears For Fears continue their streak of releasing covers of contemporary indie-rock cuts, today surprising fans with a new cover of Animal Collective’s 2009 single “My Girls” — the latest in their series of recordings, following Arcade Fire and Hot Chip covers, that the band made earlier this year.

Two months after dropping a surprise cover of Arcade Fire’s “Ready to Start” on fans, Tears For Fears is back this week with another unlikely makeover: a new cover of Hot Chip’s 2006 electro-pop favorite “And I Was a Boy From School” (which was re-titled “Boy From School” when it was issued as a single).
