Playlist: Sirius XM’s ‘Dark Wave,’ 7/4/10

We’ve run into a bit of technical difficulty with our tonight’s ‘Dark Wave’ playlist. When we’re unable to catch the show on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave — as was the case this Fourth of July night — we’re usually able to recreate it using DogstarRadio.com’s excellent search function.

The playlist from tonight’s ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s classic-alt station 1st Wave boasts an unusual number of deep, rarely aired cuts from regulars such as Siouxsie and the Banshees (the band’s cover of The Doors’ ‘You’re Lost Little Girl’), the Psychedelic Furs (‘Imitation of Christ’), The Jesus and Mary Chain (‘Catchfire’) and Love and Rockets (‘Holiday on the Moon’).

Tonight’s ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave opened with The Cure’s ‘Disintegration,’ and featured such highlights as a rare airing of TSOL (‘Flowers By the Door’); the return of Public Image Ltd.’s ‘Rise,’ which opened the show for weeks on end earlier this year; and both Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ and the Swans’ cover.

Highlights from last night’s ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave include an always-welcome Depeche Mode B-side (‘Sea of Sin’ off ‘World in My Eyes’), a dash of Swans (‘Saved’) and a particularly great three-song run by Sinead O’Connor, Cocteau Twins and The Church (‘Jerusalem’/’Ivo’/’Tantalized’).
