Twenty years after its creation, Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor today finally released “Broken ,” the 20-minute, highly graphic short film directed by Peter Christopherson. Reznor posted the movie to NIN’s Vimeo channel today, warning that it contains “extreme violent and sexual content.”
Trent Reznor’s reunited Nine Inch Nails will be filling festival bills around the world later this summer, but Coachella snagged what may end up being a rare appearance by his new band, How to Destroy Angels, which brought an impressive visual component to its set late Friday night.
As fully expected after last week’s big leak, the lineup for this summer’s Lollapalooza festival in Chicago was announced today, with headliners that include The Cure and Nine Inch Nails, as well as an appearance by New Order. Check out the full lineup; single day tickets on sale Wednesday.
We’ve already speculated as to why there’s a good chance we’ll see The Cure and New Order on the bill of August’s Lollapalooza, and now comes a photo of what’s purported to be a poster featuring the Chicago festival’s yet-to-be-announced lineup, headlined by Robert Smith and Co.

Three years ago, we reported on plans to release a fan-produced concert film documenting Nine Inch Nails’ purportedly final concert: a monster 3.5-hour, 37-song set performed Sept. 10, 2009, at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre. Now, with Trent Reznor having just announced plans to reunite NIN, the film is here.
Four years since retiring the live incarnation of Nine Inch Nails, frontman Trent Reznor this morning announced he is resurrecting the band with a new lineup that includes King Crimson guitar whiz Adrian Belew and former Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery, and will mount a U.S. arena tour this fall and dates worldwide in 2014.
Long-running darkwave favorites Clan of Xymox — still centered around founding member Ronny Moorings — this fall will pay tribute to some of its own favorite bands with a collection called ‘Kindred Spirits’ that will feature covers of tracks by The Cure, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie and the Banshees and both Joy Division and New Order.
