Record Rack: A round-up of the week’s new albums, expanded reissues and/or box sets, appearing each Monday on Slicing Up Eyeballs. All releases due out this Friday unless noted. This week’s releases include titles from Wire, Poster Children, The Breeders, Matthew Sweet, Rat Scabies and Lords of Acid.
The Breeders, who’ve been in the studio recording a follow-up to 2008’s Mountain Battles, will head out on the road this fall, playing nine dates in Europe in October followed by 10 more dates in the U.S., including a slot opening for the Arcade Fire in St. Paul, Minn. See full dates here.
The ‘Last Splash’-era lineup of The Breeders — Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs, and Jim Macpherson — has reunited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of that album and its breakout hit “Cannonball,” and will reissue the record in a deluxe edition and then perform it live on tour in the U.S. and Europe in 2013.
