Glastonbury 2011: U2, Morrissey, Big Audio Dynamite, Primal Scream and more

The lineup for the 2011 installment of the venerable Glastonbury Festival was unveiled today, and, in addition to expected headliner U2, the massive fest also will feature sets by Morrissey, Big Audio Dynamite, Primal Scream, Hothouse Flowers, Robyn Hitchcock, Suzanne Vega, Billy Bragg and Nick Lowe.

For his first live dates since a series of trouble-prone 2009 outings, Morrissey will return to the stage this summer with a nine-date U.K. tour leading up to a slot headlining the Hop Farm Music Festival alongside such icons as Lou Reed, Iggy & The Stooges and Patti Smith.

Morrissey in April will release a new greatest-hits collection — the 18-track ‘The Very Best of Morrissey’ — featuring an unreleased, Siouxsie-less version of ‘Interlude,’ and will precede the set with a single backed by two unreleased ‘Viva Hate’ outtakes.

Now here’s something you don’t see every day: A snapshot of Billy Bragg and Morrissey — clad in knee-bearing shorts and some sort of floral or Hawaiian shirt, with his tongue jutting out — at Canada’s Wonderland amusement park in Toronto while on tour with The Smiths in 1985.
