This week sees the release of brand-new studio albums from OMD, Big Country (with Mike Peters of The Alarm) and The House of Love, plus reissues from Morrissey (‘Kill Uncle’) and Electronic (‘Electronic’), a live album from Sparks and a new 7-inch single from The Fall.

Just two weeks after canceling the remainder of his troubled U.S. tour over his ongoing “medical mishaps,” Morrissey tonight announced plans to resume touring in June and July, with seven concerts planned in Mexico — including a show in Mexico City — followed by performances in Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Chile.

A newly revealed cassette recording of The Smiths rehearsing in a Manchester warehouse in May 1983 prior to signing their first record deal has surfaced online in what the band’s drummer today called “an early recording you’ve probably never heard before.”

Morrissey’s trouble-plagued and oft-postponed North American tour has come to an end as Pitchfork reports the former Smiths singer has pulled the plug on the remaining 24 dates of the trek, a good number of which already had been rescheduled not once but twice since originally being set last fall.

Seems Morrissey’s health issues aren’t behind him, after all: Six dates into his rescheduled North American tour, the former Smiths frontman this afternoon announced that tonight’s concert at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco “will not take place” due to the singer’s “ongoing medical condition.”

Last month, Morrissey announced that David Bowie put the kibosh on the sleeve of his “Last of the Famous International Playboys” reissue, on which Moz had hoped to use a “previously unseen private photograph” of himself with Bowie taken in 1992. Seems Rick Astley is more willing — or just lacks the power to stop it.
