Today we mark the 56th birthday of punk legend Mick Jones — leader of the newly reactivated Big Audio Dynamite — with a look back at that other band he was in, with a full 1980 concert by The Clash. Watch it here.

While an official announcement is still forthcoming, the reunited Big Audio Dynamite is plotting what looks to be a two-week club tour across the U.S. this August to coincide with its slots at Lollapalooza in Chicago and the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco.

The reunited Big Audio Dynamite will return to the U.S. this August and are moving forward with plans to reissue 1986’s ‘No. 10, Upping St.’ — possibly with unreleased material co-written by frontman Mick Jones and former Clash bandmate Joe Strummer.

Last night in Liverpool, Mick Jones brought his post-Clash outfit Big Audio Dynamite out of retirement for the original lineup’s first concert in 22 years, the opening night of a nine-date U.K. tour that will be followed by a pair of U.S. gigs and a slot at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in California next month.

While Mick Jones has yet to publicly debut the reunited Big Audio Dynamite, he took time last night to perform at the star-studded launch party for London’s new W Hotel — and enlisted The Who’s Roger Daltrey to help sing The Clash’s classic ‘London Calling.’

Mick Jones and Co. ‘have plans in the works for a new Big Audio Dynamite album,’ according to a news release e-mailed late Monday by Sony Music promoting the band’s three upcoming U.S. performances.

After wrapping its upcoming U.K. tour, the reunited Big Audio Dynamite will bookend its appearance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival with a pair of pre- and post-fest gigs in Los Angeles and New York City.
