Morrissey’s tour opener in Portland, Ore., this week featured at least one major setlist surprise: the singer’s first-ever live performance of “I Started Something I Couldn’t Finish,” the second single off The Smiths’ posthumously released final album Strangeways, Here We Come. As he prepares to embark on his U.S. tour next week, Morrissey has now announced a tour of arenas and larger venues in the U.K. and Ireland early next year in support of his forthcoming album Low in High School. The trek opens in Aberdeen on Feb. 16 and wraps up with London concerts on March 7 and 9.

Morrissey today debuted the second track off his upcoming 11th solo album, Low in High School, via the lyric video you can see below for “I Wish You Lonely,” driven by its mid-tempo stomp and Moz’s insistent vocals. The song follows lead single “Spent the Day in Bed.” Hear the new song right here.

Last week Morrissey helped the BBC kick off its 6 Music Live week, a series of live-on-the-air performances at the British broadcaster’s Maida Vale studios that also featured Mogwai, alt-J, Loyle Carner and Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant. Watch Morrissey’s full 55-minute set here.

Nearly a year after his last U.S. tour fizzled amid cancellations and illness, Morrissey will return to the road this fall for a 16-date American trek in support of the forthcoming album Low in High School. The trek opens Oct. 31 in Portland, Ore., and wraps up Dec. 7 in Boston. See full dates here.
