This week sees the release of a new album from Slowdive, a Nick Cave live set, a Belinda Carlisle box set, a live album from Missing Persons, and a Love Tractor reissue.

The fourth album from Athens, Ga., college-rock favorites Love Tractor this fall be reissued on CD and vinyl with a half-dozen bonus tracks.

The 1982 debut album by Love Tractor, part of the fertile Athens, Ga., college-rock scene that also birthed R.E.M., The B-52’s and Pylon, has been remixed and remastered by Bill Berry and Sugar’s David Barbe, and will be reissued with an unreleased bonus track this fall. For this week’s installment of Vintage Video, we turn to Slicing Up Eyeballs reader Walt, who shared with us this full 90-minute recording of classic Athens, Ga., alt-rockers Love Tractor performing a free show on the University of California at Los Angeles campus on Feb. 12, 1987.

This month we bring you the third premiere in our series of archival videos from Wuxtry Records in Athens, Ga., and it’s another flashback to February 1981 at Atlanta’s 688 Club. This time it’s a full 70-minute set from Athens post-punk/new wave act The Method Actors, filmed a week after the R.E.M. set that kicked off this series.

Omnivore Recordings this fall will release the soundtrack to the cult 1987 documentary ‘Athens, GA – Inside/Out’ — which chronicled the music scene that spawned R.E.M., The B-52s and more — on CD for the first time, packaging it with a DVD of the film and five bonus tracks, two of which are ‘previously unheard performances.’
