As part of this year’s 20th anniversary celebration, Lollapalooza has rolled out a series of videos, one of the latest of which assembles some rare, raw footage of the once-traveling festival’s first two years.

Big Audio Dynamite rocked Lollapalooza over the weekend, and if you didn’t get a chance see Mick Jones and Co. on the live webcast — let alone attend the Chicago extravaganza — the festival has posted video of three songs from the band’s set.

Gibby Haynes and his acid-fried compatriots in the Butthole Surfers return to the road later this summer with a near-reunion of the band’s core ’80s lineup that will perform 11 concerts in the western U.S. and Canada before returning home to Austin, Texas, for a tour-ending finale.

Twenty years ago today, the Perry Farrell-spawned Lollapalooza festival — which, in retrospect, joins Nevermind as perhaps the best historical encapsulation of ‘the year punk broke’ — made its debut in the sun-baked Arizona desert with performances by Nine Inch Nails, Living Colour, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Jane’s Addiction.

While an official announcement is still forthcoming, the reunited Big Audio Dynamite is plotting what looks to be a two-week club tour across the U.S. this August to coincide with its slots at Lollapalooza in Chicago and the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco.

The organizers of Lollapalooza tonight unveiled the lineup for this year’s 20th anniversary festival, and while there are no throwbacks to that inaugural 1991 fest, there are a couple acts on the bill older than the event itself: Big Audio Dynamite and The Cars.
