Tonight’s ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave opened with The Cure’s ‘Disintegration,’ and featured such highlights as a rare airing of TSOL (‘Flowers By the Door’); the return of Public Image Ltd.’s ‘Rise,’ which opened the show for weeks on end earlier this year; and both Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ and the Swans’ cover.

Last night, bassist Peter Hook marked the 30th anniversary of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis’ death by performing the band’s 1979 debut ‘Unknown Pleasures’ in its entirety — plus assorted other Joy Division and Warsaw songs — at his Manchester club FAC251 The Factory.

Less than a month after dropping its debut EP, Peter Hook’s triple-bass supergroup Freebass — which also features The Smiths’ Andy Rourke and Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield of The Stone Roses and Primal Scream — today released its five-years-in-the-making album, ‘It’s a Beautiful Life.’

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke brought his solo band Atoms for Peace to the Fox Theater in Oakland, Calif., last night as part of the group’s pre-Coachella tour, and whipped out a surprise cover: Joy Division’s classic ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart.’
