Next month, the new 700-page biography of The Smiths by music writer Tony Fletcher finally comes out in the U.S. — the book, which promises “the complete story” of the iconic band, hit stores in the U.K. in early September — and publisher Crown Archetype has given us a dozen copies to give away to Slicing Up Eyeballs readers.

Since quitting The Smiths in 1987, guitarist Johnny Marr has played with a wide variety of acts, from Talking Heads and The The to Electronic, Modest Mouse, The Cribs and even his own short-lived band, Johnny Marr + The Healers. Early next year, though, he’ll finally release his first proper album under his own name.

The reunited Dinosaur Jr will celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘You’re Living All Over Me’ this December with a concert in New York City that will feature a meeting of the six-string minds, with legendary Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr set to trade licks with J Mascis on “a song or two,” according to the band’s website.

Morrissey continued his American media tour Tuesday night, following up last week’s appearance on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” with a highly entertaining visit to “The Colbert Report,” during which Moz withstood ribbing from Stephen Colbert on topics such as the British monarchy, vegetarianism and, of course, The Smiths.

In a completely expected turn of events, representatives for both Morrissey and Johnny Marr reportedly have each denied the rumors of a reunion by The Smiths that once again circulated online this week following Moz’s claim that Coachella was willing to go entirely meat-free in exchange for a headlining performance.

Couple times each year, the Internet goes a flutter with wild rumors that The Smiths finally will reunite, and it appears we’re in the midst of another round, thanks to a recent interview with Morrissey himself and a totally unverified report that the band will reunite next year for four concerts in England, possibly headlining Glastonbury.
